Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has announced a ‘Field Fix Campaign’ a.k.a. recall for 8,216 Mitsubishi Triton and Pajero Sport units in Malaysia. Affected cars were produced before May 11, 2012.

The recall, initiated by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) Japan, is for MMM to undertake a preventive and safety measure to inspect the welding condition of the front lower arm and replace it if found faulty. Although there have not been any incidents in Malaysia, the exercise is deemed necessary as improper welding in the front lower arm may cause a vehicle to be unstable.

MMM will issue notification letters to affected customers and full costs will be borne by the company. Upon receiving the letters, affected customers can proceed to make an appointment with any Mitsubishi Motors authorised service centre nationwide. The inspection job will take not more than two hours, MMM says.
