SPYSHOTS: 2015 BMW X6 spied testing on the ‘Ring

We now have more spyshots of the next-generation BMW X6 to add to the first set of photos we featured here a few weeks ago. Here, the so-called sports activity coupe (SAC) was shot at BMW’s trackside facility near the Nurburgring and then again on the circuit itself.

The running prototypes still wear heavy camouflage all-around, so there’s not much we can see apart from the high-riding coupe’s new F15 X5-based front end that appears higher and more prominent than the current X6’s sleek fascia. Squint and you can also make out the muscular wheelarch bulges over the rear tyres, similar to the ones on the BMW X4 Concept.

Expect the 2015 BMW X6 to inherit much of the latest X5’s heavily reworked chassis and suspension; with a newfound focus on comfort and luxury over the current-generation’s overly sporty configuration. The traditional SUV’s refreshed dashboard and updated engines should make their way to the new X6 too.

By the time it arrives in 2015, the new X6 will likely come under fire from two new sporty SUV/coupe rivals from fellow premium brands Audi and Mercedes-Benz. The Ingolstadt company is said to be working on a Q6 that will be based on the next-gen Q5, while Daimler is already working on a coupe-like version of its ML-Class SUV. Can the original SAC hack it then?

has the same boring lights as the new X5, BMW being overly conservative…Best car in this segment remains the Cayenne…by miles
