Toyota is signing off its funky FJ Cruiser with a Trail Teams Ultimate Edition – announced at the ongoing SEMA show in Las Vegas, the limited production cycle of 2,500 units will bring the curtain down on the FJ after an eight-year run, in which more that 200,000 examples have been sold.
The FJ TT Ultimate Edition pays tribute to its inspiration, the iconic Land Cruiser FJ40 of the 1960’s, through a colour scheme – the vehicle wears a new exterior shade called “Heritage Blue” and a white painted front grille surround as a homage.
The edition, available only in 4×4 form, features Toyota Racing Development bits, led by an off-road suspension specifically developed and tuned for the vehicle. The system includes TRD Bilstein race shocks with increased damping, articulation and high speed stability – the 66 mm front assemblies get new TRD race coil springs that raise the FJ’s front, while the 50 mm rear units are equipped with remote reservoirs to decrease damping fade.
Also on, a new TRD front skid aluminium plate as well as TRD 16-inch bead lock wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich A/T KO tires, with rock rails and a roof rack completing the exterior dress up job. No other mechanical revisions are mentioned, and so the 4.0 1GR-FE V6 powertrain continues on unchanged for the vehicle’s final run.

This FJ40 cruiser shall be built for tough and rough use like iconic age as well as rough use like Land Rover Defender. But what i seen now…. Put TRD, shining here and there. You want drive it in jungle? And relly the price is 230k? Land Rover Defender only 160k is not mistaken.

saw plentiful of these when I was in Saudi 4 years back. Lately an increasing number of these cruisers were spotted on KL’s road cz the recond guys are getting it cheap from Japan but still a ripp off cz avg price more than 200k.

This FJ40 is legendary off roader..you can still find the old 70s on sabah interior gravel road..still reliably strong as ever..
This is not workhorse FJ40, it is FJ40 lookalike built on 4Runner platform… Toyota have Landcruiser 70-series for workhorse purposes… The car is meant to be “modern classic” like New MINI, Vw Beetle..
and I have not owned one yet…I feel sad now.
