The Peugeot 208 facelift goes on sale in Europe this month, and the French carmaker has released ad and presentation videos of the refreshed B-segment hatchback, which made its world debut at Geneva in March. One million units of the 208 have been sold since its mid-2012 launch, and the supermini is Peugeot’s best-selling product.
The updated 208 gets a new front bumper, a wider “Equalizer” grille that gives the car a wider look, and a more striking set of black and chrome headlights. The rear end gets new “3D” LED tail lamps (thick triple claw signature now) and there are new 16-inch wheel designs.
Three new colours are available – Orange Power (as seen in Geneva) and two textured colours: Ice Grey and Ice Silver. Both colours possess a mixture of matte and satin finish for a more receptive outlook under different lighting compared to a standard matte finish. Peugeot claims that its textured paint is more durable and scratch-resistant than regular matte, too.
European buyers get two new personalisation options – Menthol White and Lime Yellow. Outside, the pack adds colour to the front grille, Peugeot script above the grille, the line above the fog lamps and on the door mirror caps. Inside, the same colour appears on the door handles, and stitching on the seats, steering and gear gaiter. New tech includes reverse camera, MirrorLink and Active City Brake.
The range gets a new GT Line and range-topping GTi by Peugeot Sport model; the latter is essentially the limited-run 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition renamed. Peugeot is also keen to highlight the 208 BlueHDi, which recently set a new long-distance fuel consumption record for a standard production vehicle, travelling 2,152 km on 43 litres of diesel, which translates to an amazing average FC of 2.0 litres per 100 km.
Malaysian Peugeot distributor Nasim tells us that the 208 facelift range will be introduced here in 2016. Aesthetic updates aside, the good news is that the current four-speed auto ‘box will be replaced with a Aisin six-speed auto, a much-needed upgrade.

i love my current 208..better than fiesta, jazz, rio, swift and mazda 2
In terms of safety & equipment yes its competitive. But I wouldn’t say it’s miles ahead of others.
Except the Fiesta, the dual clutch is pure crap & SDAC’s pricing is crap too
and more powerful too! loving my 208 :)
180kmh very smooth and feels slow, but torquey
Finally got rid of all those cheapo chrome finishes.
