VIDEO: Mercedes-AMG C 63 gets animated on track

The Mercedes-AMG C 63, along with its brawnier sibling, the C 63 S, are cars that require very little introduction amongst enthusiasts. Revealed in September last year, the fire-breathing variant of the W205 range is equipped with a twin-turbo, 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine that pumps out a total of 476 PS from 5,500 to 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm.

Owners with a warped sense of humour can opt for the aforementioned C 63 S variant. Employing a tuned version of the same mill, the S version puts down a total of 510 PS and 700 Nm of twist. A sole transmission choice is offered in the guise of AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed automatic. The century sprint is done and dusted in 4.1 seconds, the S variant shaves a tenth off – top speed is limited to 250 km/h.

So while the AMG name itself is synonymous with performance, the other significant link in this video is music – specifically the alternative/electronic rock genre. The first few seconds are enough to give it away as the familiar beat of Linkin Park‘s ‘New Divide’ gets overlaid with the gruff engine note of the C 63.

The heady combination of shots of cars oversteering with smoke pouring off the rear tyres and rhythmic beats further proves that the right kind of music does help to improve one’s driving abilities – a fact only applicable to individuals with an overactive imagination.
