W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class to reach Malaysia in Q3

We previously got a heads up on the arrival of the W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class during the launch of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s new line of SUVs (GLC, GLE, GLE Coupe), where we were told that the sedan will arrive here at the later part of the year.

At the unveiling of the new Cycle & Bintang Carriage Petaling Jaya Autohaus, we repeated the question to Mark Raine, vice president, Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, to see if things are still on track.

Although brief, Raine expanded upon our previous bit of info on the arrival of the W213 by saying, “I would say, before we go into Q4, 2016, we will have the new E-Class in place.” That excludes October, November and December from our guessing game.

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class first broke cover in January 2016, now riding on the brand’s modular MRA platform that debuted on the W205 C-Class. During its launch debut, the 10th-generation E-Class received two engine options: a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol on the E 200 (184 hp/300 Nm), and a brand-new OM654 2.0 litre turbodiesel mill on the E 220d (194 hp/400 Nm). A new nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic is fitted to the engines.

Among the tech features loaded into the new E-Class include dual 12.3-inch display screens forming the instrument panel and the centre display screen, latest-gen COMAND Online system, Remote Parking Pilot system, Car-to-X communication, Digital Vehicle Key and Drive Pilot, the brand’s autonomous driving system.

Is not bad to look similar. But E’s dashboard is uglier. MB please consider redesign it

  • If it’s park side by side with a C class, i don’t think most can distinguish between these 2 cars.

Might be earlier or later depending on our crappy federal government’s approval.

I wished they kept the tail-light designed like in the old E-class. This one makes it look like another C-class from the back.

Also, the front headlight could be reverted back to ‘big and small pair headlight per side’ to maintain the trademark of E-Class.

W-213 IS UNLUCKY WITH THE 13
