The W214 E-Class is a proper generational change, not a light update. It replaces the W213 with a significant exterior redesign and a fully revamped interior, while the Malaysian line-up gives buyers a choice between mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid petrol power. It is not the cheapest executive sedan here: the Lexus ES, Volvo ES90 and BMW 5 Series all start lower. But the range is simple and clearly split.
