SPIED: Ford Focus facelift in Malaysian showroom – interior revealed, shows SYNC 2, Active Parking Assist

The new Ford Focus facelift has been spied once more. This time, thanks to Chris Lim, both the hatch and sedan variants were captured together again in Sime Darby Auto Connexion’s (SDAC) old PJ showroom along the Federal Highway.

The new C346 Focus duo appear just as before, with the hatchback in a Sport+ guise and the sedan in its Titanium+ trim. The hatch is seen wearing 17-inch multi-spoke wheels and an exterior body kit which adds front and rear diffuser extensions, side skirts and a rear sports spoiler.

The sedan is fashioned quite similarly, but gets different wheels as before — judging by these photos, they do also look a bit smaller than hatchback’s 17-inch rollers. The front and rear halogen bulb reflector headlamps are still present on both models too.

For the first time now, we get a clear look at the interior of the new local-spec Focus. Two leather upholstery colours are apparent, one beige and the other black. By these photos, it looks like the beige is featured on the sedan, while the hatch gets a black interior.

We can also confirm the availability of the SYNC 2 infotainment system and eight-inch touchscreen media display. If you look closely enough, “Sony” lettering is apparent on the dash, confirming that the new Focus could also be in for the nine-speaker Sony audio system.

Other notable items include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, an engine push-start button, Ford’s Active Park Assist function, cruise control, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning, a USB slot, and auto headlamp activation.

For power, we know that the new, Malaysian-market Focus will feature a 1.5 litre EcoBoost engine, offering 180 PS at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm between 1,600 to 5,000 rpm. A new six-speed SelectShift six-speed torque converter transmission is specified here, replacing the old dual-clutch auto PowerShift transmission.

It can’t be long now until SDAC launches its new C-segment Ford Focus sedan and hatch, so stay tuned to paultan.org for more updates. For now, feel free to check out our review of the new Focus from Australia.

It will never be Civic rival. Don’t talk about engines. Talk about waiting time for your parts. You can have the latest engines in town but when your car needs repair, the Civic owner can get it that very evening. The Ford owner in Malaysia will get it 3 months later.

      I have a Ford Focus. I know.

Still a sushi car, City, Almera, Mazda 2 or the Vios are good cars with good reliability and good RV.

Unlike those kimchis and those starts with F – Ford, Fiat and French cars having bad reliability and bad RV.

  • Excited to tryout the new gearbox. Not excited about pretty much everything else from the price, spec level & tech included. Highly doubt it’ll be cheaper than the current Focus & new 308
