VIDEO: Porsche’s new rear seat entertainment system

Porsches are famous for the way the drive, not the way they pamper – there are plenty of other better options to lounge and relax in – but the world has changed. These days, luxury car buyers want it all, and brands chasing the dollar (or yuan) will cater to their fancies.

Zuffenhausen has already jumped into SUVs and even a “limo” in the Panamera, so why not fit in rear seat entertainment like every other luxury car out there? The Porsches of today are used as family cars and business machines even, so it makes sense, even if it doesn’t makes sense.

This is it, the new Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment system, now available for all Panamera, Cayenne and Macan models. The rear ICE system made its debut in the 100-unit limited edition Panamera Turbo S Exclusive Series in late 2014, but many more owners will now get to enjoy it.

It’s a good looking piece of kit. Each of the two Internet-capable consoles offer a 10.1-inch touchscreen HD display with an integrated camera as well as various multimedia interfaces. Whether you or your kids want to surf the Internet, send and receive emails, enjoy a movie or even play games, your Porsche and its apps will oblige. It comes with cordless Bluetooth headphones, too.

Yes, rear seat entertainment is coming soon to a Porsche near you. The more senior among us would never have thought this day would come, but Porsche knows what its doing – the maker of the 911 is on the back of its fifth consecutive record-breaking year in terms of sales, and is making more money than ever.

Check out the video above as well as the screenshots below to learn more about the system and its features.
