For Volvo owners who have been eagerly waiting for some Polestar goodies to come to Malaysia, good news! Volvo Car Malaysia has announced that it is offering the Polestar Performance Optimisation programme for the V40 T5, XC60 (T5 and T6), and S60 T6.

On offer are five separate Polestar performance parts packages – chassis, intake and exhaust, wheels, interior and exterior, and optimisation. The first sees the addition of new shock absorbers, coil springs, as well as a front strut bar (S60 only).

Meanwhile, those who opt to upgrade their cars’ intake and exhaust will benefit from a stainless steel exhaust system, which is complimented with a sports air filter, new air box lid, and a rear diffuser.

Volvo V40, S60 and XC60 with Polestar Parts

The wheels package sees the fitment of 19-inch lightweight rims (V40 and S60), with XC60 owners getting larger 21-inch rims. Pirelli P Zero tyres accompany the new set of rims on the XC60 and V40, while the S60 gets Bridgestone Potenza tyres instead.

Next up, there’s the interior and exterior package, which introduces several visual enhancements to your Volvo, including a rear spoiler, new door sills, black side mirrors, sports pedals, lower door decor (S60 only), lower door panel (XC60 only), boot handle (XC60 only), and a new gear knob.

The last package – optimisation – “provides a completely new driving experience for you Volvo,” focusing on improving five aspects of the car – throttle response, gearshift speed, gearshift precision and gear hold, off-throttle response, and engine performance (only for Drive-E engines).

That last bit means more power from your Volvo’s engine, starting with V40 T5, which originally outputs 245 hp and 350 Nm of torque. With the optimisation package, it now produces 253 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

As for the XC60, the T5 model develops 253 hp and 400 Nm with the upgrade package, up from 245 hp and 350 Nm, while the T6 provides 310 hp and 430 Nm, a gain of 4 hp and 30 Nm. Finally, the S60 T6 when stock, makes 306 hp and 400 Nm, and with the optimisation, 310 hp and 430 Nm.

The Polestar performance parts packages are installed locally, and can be ordered from authorised Volvo showrooms from Monday (November 1, 2016) onwards. Prices are as posted above, and inclusive of 6% GST.

I was actually Happy for our guys who love anything Volvo. But after reading the article, the V40 T5 package that cost RM 59,999 which is the cheapest here gain ‘only’ a marginal 8 hp & 50 nm of torque.

To our bro Sami-Veloo, I hope your long wait is worth your time. Happy Devali.

In order to gain 8hp & 50nm of Torque, “ONLY” RM5,665, not RM59,999. By spending RM21,079 for wheels won’t get any hp/torque gains.

Smart MICKEY MOUSE. Might as well don’t bother to upgrade. The main reason here is to LOOK & GO like a POLSTER. This is for those who have the $$$.

  • Wow, for a gain of 4 hp and 30 Nm to look like a “Polster” for the T6, you pay in excess of 78 to 87 grand. I wonder how many Volvo owner will convert their T6 ?!

Most Volvo owner buy a Volvo bcos they wanted a safe car & not bcos they want a fast/flashy car. The T6 is already a potent machine in excess of 300 HP/400 NM.

I asked my neighbor who own a XC60 T6 if he is willing to part with this kind of $$$ & he says, it defeat his purpose of buying the XC60 as his main priority is Safety & its conservative nature & not power/speed.

He even mention how many Volvo drivers do you know drive their car to the Max & therein lies the answer.

    • Bro, you got trouble reading ah? Optimisation with the output gain is 5k which includes better throttle response etc. The rest are the optimisation bits like wheels. Everything adds to 78k+

      • Vox, I have no problem reading. On the contrary, I think you have problem comprehending my writing.

It says “Wow, for a gain of 4 hp and 30 Nm to look like a “Polster”. The article is about LOOK & GO like a Polster.

Yes, you can fix only the Optimization but you do not have the LOOKs to go with it.

That is beside the point. The T6 by itself is a decent looking car with a potent engine. The people who buy a Volvo buy it for safety & not to flash it around.

For cheaper price and nicely gained hp and Nm, better switch to BSR or even MTM. It is worth every penny, and if you wish to revert to old set up, just rest the whole thing and voila, back to old volvo. Warranty is not voided because it is plug n play.
