Isuzu D-Max 3.0L Single Cab launched in Malaysia – 177 PS and 380 Nm pick-up truck priced from RM88k

Isuzu Malaysia has launched the new D-Max 3.0L 4×4 Single Cab, which it says is the only single-cab pick-up truck available with a 3.0 litre turbodiesel engine in Malaysia. The new introduction joins the existing D-Max double-cab and 2.5L single-cab ranges in Malaysia.

The 4JJ1-TCX 3.0 litre turbodiesel is identical to that on the double-cab D-Max offerings, and continues to provide 177 PS at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm at 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. A five-speed manual is the only transmission option available here, along with a four-wheel drive system.

Likely targeted for those in the commercial industry, the single-cab D-Max gets an improved heavy duty leaf spring rear suspension setup to cope with the load it’ll carry over a variety of terrain. The front suspension continues to employ a double wishbone setup with coil springs.

On the exterior, which is only available in Magnum White, there is a black front bumper, 16-inch steel wheels (with 245/70 tyres), reflector halogen headlights and black-painted powered side mirrors. The pick-up also adopts the facelifted fascia of its double-cab siblings, albeit with a larger flatbed at the back.

Inside, you’ll find a single-DIN head unit with CD and MP3 playback as well as AUX and USB media inputs. Power windows, central locking, a 4×4 controller dial and single-zone manual air-conditioning are also part of the interior kit list.

Safety-wise, the D-Max Single Cab comes with ABS, EBD, brake assist, hill start assist (HSA), traction control, and electronic stability control (ESC). These items come standard on the double-cab D-Max range as well.

As for pricing, the D-Max 3.0L 4×4 Single Cab retails for RM87,530.40 (on-the-road price without insurance) and comes with a five-year/150,000 km warranty and the Isuzu Doctor Mobile service. Optional accessories for the pick-up include a bed liner that’ll set you back an additional RM1,060.

For those who can do with a smaller engine, Isuzu Malaysia also offers the D-Max Single Cab with the 4JK1-TCX 2.5 litre turbodiesel, which develops 136 PS at 3,600 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. Much like the 3.0L, there’s only a 4×4 five-speed manual here, priced at RM81,961.20.

No wonder sales of Isuzu are so high. They price it cheap at RM88k. But whether it is comfortable is another story. This car suitable only for apek contractor who go to construction sites that are off road and muddy. Not meant to be comfortable for family use.

Pretty sad. Gomen should ensure the Ranger and Hilux are sold at below RM90k for families to use. Now, Hilux and Ranger prices keep going higher and higher.

if the manufacturer can give safety stuffs, why cant the manufacturer afford simple painting the bumper??

It looks like the truck had a bumper change after accident repair…..

Black bumper easy ma..if scratched cannot see..if got painted..can see from far..after all this is for commercial use..so the owners normally don’t mind.

    • A painted bumper would be full of scratches after a trip or two into a plantation. Might as well leave it unpainted. More important stuffs are the ESC, TC and HSA.

Come on Isuzu Malaysia! We want the 2.2L pick up! The running costs are lower compared to the older models here which has got 2.5L engines. Can’t you all see the obvious? Ford Ranger is conquering the 4×4 segment in Malaysia because the 2.2L has got lower running costs compared to the other pick ups.
    WAKE UP!

    • Agreed. We waiting for the 1.9L. Thailand already use it from racing to workhorse without problem. 3.0 single cab good for Sandakan drag race.
