Mitsubishi Expander to also be rebadged as a Nissan

Mitsubishi Expander to also be rebadged as a Nissan

Mitsubishi’s upcoming “Low MPV” offering for the Indonesian market, shown so far as the XM Concept, will also be sold as a Nissan model in the republic, according to a news report.

The vehicle, which will apparently be called the Expander in its production form, will be rebadged as a Nissan and sold alongside the Mitsubishi equivalent, Just Auto reports. Both the Mitsubishi and Nissan versions of the seven-seat offering are slated to be introduced ahead of the 2017 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in August.

It was previously reported that the utility model will have at least nine variants on offer in its Mitsubishi guise, so there will definitely be plenty of variety on call on that front.

The Expander will be built at Mitsubishi’s new Indonesian manufacturing plant in Bekasi, West Java, with series production set to begin in October. The plant, which has a production capacity of 160,000 units a year and is the automaker’s second largest facility in the region, will also build the Pajero Sport for the domestic market.

Mitsubishi and Nissan can marry. No problem. Both work hard. Both can share platform and sell same car under both brand names.

But Mitsubishi had a bad marriage before with Proton. Now cerai already. Marriage broke up cause Mitsubishi work hard but Proton lepak, rilaks and minum teh 8x.

When one marry another, both must have same qualities and attributes. A hardworking person cannot marry a person who likes to rilaks, lepak and minum teh 8x

The same story with Suzuki and Proton. Now cerai already.

    • Its a thousand times better looking than the horrid Honda BR-V. Everytime I see one on the road I either slow down and switch lanes or speed up and get far away from one. If I see one in a shopping mall promo area I terus ditch my shopping plans and go elsewhere. Hopelessly designed ugly faux-mini-SUV

It was a pain when proton rebadged lancer. Since then no more Mitsubishi for me.
But now Geely saves us from scary low quality re-badging. Thanks and all the best to Geely.
As for Mitsubishi, I might be considering again.

Malaysian geniuses will say: Nissan should close shop. Over 80 years in the business and still only know how to rebadge.
