The 2019-model year Audi S6 Avant has been spotted again, and this time around as previously it is running cold-weather trials. The tell-tale ‘S’ model visual cues are present mostly, though the car remains very subtle in its upgraded performance guise. The regular A6 was launched earlier this year in February.
A front bumper with mildly deeper air intakes is present in front, with most of the new A6’s front-end treatment remaining intact, while the side profile is embellished by a larger wheel-and-tyre combo as befitting its higher performance credentials. Around to the rear end, a set of quad exhaust tips and a deeper rear bumper complete the look.
Said performance credentials have yet to be confirmed, though our sources tell us that the upcoming model will adopt the recently employed 2.9 litre biturbo V6 engine which serves in the likes of the Audi RS4, RS5 as well as the Porsche Panamera 4S. However, its exact output figures are yet to be known.
This car will certainly employ quattro all-wheel drive, though its type of gearbox remains to be seen (whether a torque converter auto or S tronic dual-clutch), and as with recent Audis of this ilk the S6 should have a more rear-biased drive layout. With the regular series Audi A6 having been launched in February this year, the S6 shouldn’t be too far off, and could likely make its debut later this year as a 2019 model.
