Proton launches upgraded 4S centre, new light blue CI

Several months ago, Proton initiated an exercise to revamp its dealer network by upgrading them to 3S and 4S centres in order provide an enhanced customer experience. This was part of its new business model, which warranted a new set of standards in terms of sales and aftersales.

Today, the company is celebrating the launch of its first upgraded 4S dealer outlet operated by Setia Gemilang Auto. The new facility boasts Proton’s latest corporate identity that utilises a brighter colour scheme to reflect a fresher, dynamic and bolder Proton.

Covering a land area of two acres, the Setia Gemilang Auto showroom in Shah Alam features a display area that accommodates 11 cars, 14 service hoists, 12 body and paint bay and a parking bay for up to 50 customers.

“I am pleased that the upgrading exercise of the new 4S and 3S outlets are progressing well especially with excellent team effort displayed by our dealers together with the team from Proton,” said Li Chunrong, CEO of Proton.

“We care for our customers’ needs and we want to emphasise that customer satisfaction remains our key priority. Most importantly, we want to convey the message of a brand new Proton moving forward,” he added.

Proton says that its upgrading exercise is progressing well, with 82 outlets ready to be upgraded to 3S or 4S centres as of May 31 this year. The national carmaker has set a target of 109 outlets to participate in the exercise, so the latest number represents a 75% achievement against target. It adds that this feat was accomplished in just five months, two months ahead of schedule.

“Today is one of the happiest days of my life, as finally, the Setia Gemilang outlet has successfully upgraded to meet the new standard requirements of a Proton 4S outlet. A lot of work has been put in to ensure what we witnessed today, materialise,” said Andrew Quek Tze Kean, director of Setia Gemilang Auto.

“I thank my team for the effort and great work, and Proton for their continuous support. I am excited with this new development and I hope this welcomes many more business opportunities for sales and service growth,” he added.

Other outlets that have signed on for the upgrading exercise, some of which are 1S or 2S centres, will also undergo renovations and possible relocations to also be able to deliver an enhanced customer experience. This is necessary ahead of the introduction of Proton’s first SUV later this year.

The newly upgrade Setia Gemilang Auto Proton 4S centre is located at Lot 7959, Jalan Batu Tiga (Off Jln Subang), Shah Alam 40100, Selangor. What are your thoughts on the revamped look for Proton dealer outlets? Share them in the comments below.

Hopefully the staff undergoes stricter performance evaluation and training so that after sales match up with this new image they’re going for.

It’s not just about having a presentable showroom and product lineup, the people running it have to be up to scratch as well.

Last year was a corporate restructuring within Proton. Now is the restructuring of sales/aftersales in a 4-5 month span and later this year is the start of a revamped product lineup. All of this happened just over a year after Geely took over, seems like a reasonable pace to me.

You’ll hear more updates about this and the SUV in the coming months, just wait and see. This kind of progress won’t be possible if Proton is on their own.

I think Dr.Li missed the point. You can have a 7 star showroom/service centre…what matters is the product. The rakyat do not want a proton with campro n punch CVT.They want a newer generation engine .Even a 4 speed Aisin gearbox will do.The sales for Proton will not hit 50,000 units this yr.,even with Siti Nurhaliza singing her lungs out at the upgraded service centres.,providing live entertainment while waiting for mechanic s to finish their job .Your Boyue will only add 2000 units to this yrs sales figure.Thats all.Just moving too slow.Pathetic…

That’s the reason why Dr Li introduced the 3S/4S upgrade program in the first place, to introduce and support a new crop of products, tech and powertrains starting later this year. The showrooms and service have to be nice because the cars are gonna be a lot nicer than what Proton has currently. The new look plus previously unheard of features and technology in Proton will surely attract new buyers and previous buyers who are giving them a second chance.

And it’s not only the Boyue that’ll be on offer, next year will include a subcompact SUV into the mix in addition to a compact sedan that will surely have a considerably wider demographic and potential sales than the Boyue.

Of course he knows the issue is a lack of appeal for the current range of cars but you can’t update an entire range in 8 months. It’s a step-by-step process and although it may look ridiculous to spend money now when the current range can’t sell it’s an investment for the future.
