Low Yuan Lung – new Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors MD

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has announced that Low Yuan Lung is the new managing director, and the appointment is effective immediately.

Low started his career in the automotive industry over two decades ago in 1996, and later assumed the mantle as the branch operation manager for Proton Edar in 2004. He joined Sime Darby Motors in 2013 as the head of sales for Auto Bavaria Retail, and a year later he was appointed as the dealer principal for Auto Bavaria Glenmarie and Auto Bavaria Retail.

In 2016, Low’s portfolio expanded to cover Sime Darby Auto Selection and he was promoted to head of retail operations shortly after.

An official statement reads: “with his vast experience in the automotive industry, Low’s appointment will help bring HSDM to greater heights. Low at the new helm of HSDM is ready to reshape the company in line with Hyundai Motor Company’s strategy towards accelerating innovation. With his experience, Hyundai’s positioning as a Modern Premium passenger car brand will be further enhanced.”

Let me recall sime Darby involvement in car industry.

    ERM.

First. Ford. All passenger cars and MPVs failed. Only ranger staying strong. For those who want to be different than the mainstream hilux.

Second. BMW. If auto Bavaria still holds the franchise, we may still make do with 3 series, 5 series and 7 series just like 20 years ago. Lucky BMW AG stepped in, created BMW Malaysia and introduced whatever new models launch in the world market. 1 series, 2 series, 4er, x1, x3, x5, x6, 3GT, 5GT, 6GT

Third. Alfa romeo. Business was so bad, itnhad to be shut down completely

Fourth. Hyundai. I think Kia sells more than this in Malaysia. A complete reverse to south Korea.

Fifth. Land rover. Most of the range rovers you see on the road are used grey imports.
