Subaru Forester, Impreza STI concepts to debut at TAS

The 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) is set to take place in January, and Subaru has announced some of the vehicles that will be on display at the event, which include two STI concepts.

The first of the two is based on the Forester e-Boxer with a number of styling enhancements like an exclusive ‘Fighter Grey’ colour and 19-inch aluminium wheels. Other additions include new bumpers, front dive planes, side skirts, STI badging, a honeycomb mesh for the grille and a scattering of yellow accents.

As for driving-related modifications, Subaru says the SUV also gets a set of Brembo monoblock six-piston calipers at the front. The company adds that the e-Boxer powertrain has been “further refined” but didn’t reveal much more.

For reference, the Forester e-Boxer consists of a FB20 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated, direct-injected flat-four petrol engine that makes 145 PS and 188 Nm of torque. The engine provides slightly less output compared to latest XV (156 PS/196 Nm) but it is augmented by a 13.6 PS/65 Nm electric motor placed within the Lineartronic CVT.

Moving on, the second STI concept uses an Impreza hatchback as its base and adds on an aerodynamic body kit, a new grille, two-tone paintjob, sportier wheels and what the company calls a “Bordeaux interior.”

Besides the concepts, a customised Levorg and WRX STI with STI performance parts will also be present, with the latter said to feature 19-inch gold-painted aluminium wheels by BBS and Recaro seats.

Malaysians are confused. Proton X70 is RM123k. Subaru Forester is RM123k. Both also SAMA price.

How come local made car by national car company same price as a Japanese car?

This is why the infamous P1 salesman John is panicking left and right.

The frustrated BN cybertrooper knows that the rakyat will just top up a bit and buy a reputable Japanese car that is sold worldwide.

Maybe John should apply for a job at Metrojaya and start working hard instead of spreading fake news, lepaking all day and asking for bantuan from the kerajaan

        • Honda CRV 2018 RM128k on Dec 27, 2018 at 11:21 am

Very hard decision to make. Honda Malaysia selling Honda CRV 2.0 2018 brand new model for RM128k. RRP is RM138k but got RM10k discount.

          So hard decision to make.

Buy RM128k CRV an award winning SUV OR

Buy RM123k X70, a car that 90% only sold in China and totally rejected by all FIRST WORLD countries.

          RM123 VS RM128k

The new X70 will be a success, while the P2 SUV will be a failure like the nautica. Tengok je!

Confirm P2 salesmen all dengki and become frustrated.

Another mistake. Everybody knows John Minum Teh 8X is not a BN Cybertrooper.

English is bad, cannot understand. Surely to assemble the X70 and follow the assembly instruction manual in English also would have some blunders

Comparing a 2018 car with less specs versus a 2019 car with all the bells, whistles, and kitchen sink. That shows yr level of genius, or rather the lack of it.

Then you will see 15,000 people crying. They never learnt their lesson since 1985. Every launch Proton promise game changer but end up failure

Because one is a brand new 2019 car while the other is 2017 leftover stocks they just can’t sell.
Tan Chong by doing so, only incurs the wrath of their current customers and nobody will buy Subaru a second time when they found out the RV instantly dropped by RM60,000.

Subie in MY always slow like snail to intro new version. Same with other brand as well. Very tired of waiting in Malaysia. Malaysian always being scammed by automotive industry. U buy now seems new, after few months later other country FL alrdy or change model. Seems very upset for rider in Malaysia.

The biggest problem of the Forrester in Malaysia is that Subie didn’t bring in the XT.

    What a waste.

It would have dominated the mid market SUV craze if priced where the upmarket positions taken by the CRV and CX5 premium models.
