C118 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 gets accidentally revealed

As many of us are aware, an even hotter version of the C118 Mercedes-Benz CLA is on its way in the form of the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45. While we’ve only seen spyshots of the new AMG in the past, the carmaker recently gave the world an (unintentional) early look at the upcoming model.

According to a report by Auto Bild, the CLA 45 can be seen in the online configurator for the CLA 35, specifically at the section of the Night package. The photo shows the rear of a car, which has a number of design cues that different from the CLA 35.

For starters, there are quad exhausts just like what we’ve seen on development cars, and the boot-mounted spoiler appears to be a little more prominent. Without any camouflage, we also see a busier-looking diffuser section compared to the “milder” CLA 35.

What attracts our attention more is the “CLA 45” emblem on the right, which appears to be joined by another character that looks a lot like an “S.” It has been rumoured that the “45” versions of Mercedes-AMG’s compact cars would come in standard and more powerful “S” versions, including for the new A 45.

Previously, details found on the website of a German insurance company HUK24 revealed the new A 45 will come with 387 PS, while the A 45 S is rated at 421 PS, both from a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It isn’t far fetched to assume the CLA 45 will get these outputs as well.
