2022 Audi Q5 Sportback S Line 2.0 TFSI quattro in Malaysia – now at RM487,223 on-the-road, with SST

Newly appointed Audi distributor in Malaysia PHS Automotive has released details for the revised line-up in the country, and among them here is the Audi Q5 Sportback S Line 2.0 TFSI quattro, which joins the A5 Sportback, Q2, Q3, and Q5.

As with its sibling of a more traditional SUV bodystyle, the Q5 Sportback for Malaysia is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged inline-four cylinder petrol engine that makes 249 PS from 5,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm and 370 Nm of torque from 1,600 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Identical engine output figures, and similarly, transmission is via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox sending drive to all four wheels.

This, too, has previously arrived in Malaysia in August, and which we have also photographed at the beginning of this year. Here, the Q5 Sportback is priced at RM487,223 on-the-road without insurance, with 10% sales tax included, and pricing is effective July 2022.

As the Q5 facelift, the Q5 Sportback may appear to wear a substantial price hike, however this brings equipment that was previously listed as part of a separate Premium Package. On this trim level, the Q5 Sportback gets the S Line exterior that brings LED headlamps with washers function, 20-inch diamond-turned five-spoke alloy wheels shod in 255/45 tyres and a black appearance package brings the darkened look to the vehicle’s brightwork.

Inside, the cabin gets S Line trim to match its exterior along with fine Nappa leather, and conveniences here include the comfort key with keyless access, while multi-coloured ambient lighting helps set the mood.

For the driver, a total of five drive modes are offered through the Audi drive select function, while connectivity is provided by the Audi smartphone interface that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For audio, the setup is the 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with 16 channels and output rated at 755 watts.

Further comfort and convenience features include 12-way adjustable front seats with electric lumbar support adjustment as well as memory settings for the driver’s seat, a three-zone climate control system, and a frameless, self-dimming rear view mirror. In terms of safety kit, the Q5 Sportback gets adaptive cruise control, Audi pre sense rear and basic, lane departure warning, lane change assist, 360-degree camera pack, and park assist with parking aid plus.

The Audi Q5 Sportback S Line 2.0 TFSI quattro is covered by a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty with five years of roadside assistance as well as a three-year free maintenance package.

          People buy Audi
          Are real deep pocketeers
They just don’t care what other says
Whilst those other that care can’t afford

I’ve owned or been around owners of a couple of Audi’s from the 2008-2014 period.

The only real one model that had issues was the A6 hybrid. Normal A4,5 and 6 were very good in terms of reliability. The company I work at still has 3 audi’s which are 7-9 years old without major issues.

Shame that the pricing now has gone haywire.

Audi used to have very refreshing designs during the iron man era.. But models of late are just so boring when compared to Mercedes and BMW. Plus it’s reputation of bad reliability, its a dying brand in Malaysia.

  • Feel sorry for Audi enthusiasts in Malaysia. Audi suffers from a lack of vision and strategy for this country. The Malay saying is “mati tak mahu, hidup segan”. Great cars and could have been the alternative to Beemers and Mercs. Now it’s fast becoming an outlier brand.

  • I saw one on the road yesterday, the same exact colour. Unfortunately, it looks kind of odd in the metal. X4 or GLC300 looks much better to me. I would prefer the regular Q5 over this.

Interesting article. But doesn’t this bring home (yet again) that in Malaysia Audi is highly uncompetitive on price vs BMW, Mercedes and Lexus? The Car is way more expensive than Mercedes GLC Coupe and BMW’s X4 for example. And based on my own experience with the dreaded EuroMobil, Audi can no longer be banked on for quality after-Sales service. I have had an awful experience with my Q3.

Here might be the only country in the world that a Q5 is more expensive than porsche macan…
