Geely FX11 Xingyao SUV unveiled in China, on sale this year – to be CMA-based successor to Proton X70?

Geely has unveiled the FX11 SUV, named Xingyao in China and is based on the group’s CMA platform co-developed by Geely and Volvo.

The C-segment SUV will replace the Geely Boyue in the same product segment, Car News China has quoted Chinese media speculation as saying. Here, the FX11 can be seen to draw visual cues from the Starburst concept which heralded a new design direction for the carmaker when it was unveiled in June last year, with the concept employing the ‘Expanding Cosmos’ design philosophy.

The FX11 will be of particular interest to the Malaysian market, as the FX11’s rumoured position as successor to the Boyue – which is the basis of the Proton X70 – means that it could be a preview of a successor to the Malaysian carmaker’s entry in the C-segment SUV category.

Geely FX11 Xingyao SUV unveiled in China, on sale this year – to be CMA-based successor to Proton X70?

According to Baoji High-tech, the FX11 will be based on a development of the CMA platform dubbed CMA 1.5, along with incorporating the GEEA 2.0 electrical architecture that enables Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities.

In terms of powertrain, local Chinese media was cited by Autohome as saying that the FX11 will be powered by a 1.5 litre hybrid engine, which Geely has unveiled at the Leishen Power powertrain brand launch to be a dedicated hybrid engine that employs supercharging and direct injection. This will produce up to 317 hp, according to Car News China, and will succeed Geely’s 1.5 TD engine.

Joining the petrol-electric hybrid powertrain for the FX11 will be the 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine as found in the Xingyue L, in which the engine produces 238 PS and 380 Nm of torque, sending drive to the wheels through an Aisin eight-speed automatic transmission.

Tipped to make its public debut at the Chengdu Motor Show on August 26, the Geely FX11 is expected to go on sale later this year.

Still a long way to go before hitting Malaysia store imo.. . Just by looking at how the x70 face-lift models are progressing. We may be getting the boyue pro when this expires in next 2 yrs or so..

Perodua rebadges everything in their line up. Proton has three vehicles _ Saga, Iriz, Exora – which they designed from the ground up, plus a (now retiring) family of engines.

Sure. Gagal sangat dah Proton ni.

Check other carmakers including luxury ones and their rebadge models. Simpan bodoh tu sikit.

X70 is good, just don’t buy the one without AEB – it’s tin kosong.
New Hr-v downsized 1.5L all also have AEB, just like Vios, Almera 1.0 Turbo and many Perodua.

It still has a lot of features for the price you pay and speaking of pricing it base variant X70 is cheaper than HRV so fwiw without AEB but X70 has other features to compensate at a better price. Other cars just cannot compare.

X70 low spec, mid spec is compromised tin and it doesn’t beat HR-V AEB for brand value, fuel efficiency and shiok sendiri status.

X70 full spec, clear win against HR-V and CR-V. Value for money and Advanced.
2023 coming soon, Malaysian should avoid no AEB already.

Cheaper doesn’t mean can compromise Safety.

The main reason the X70 outsell the CRV is the 30 grand cheaper price tag..but the design is no where appealing.
This Xing Yao design is definitely more appetising…finally it has the ummph..gaya.mutu,keunggulan.

      • Bull manure! Compare both is not a lot difference as X70 Premium is few k’s slightly cheaper than CRV 2.0 2WD. Easily can be afforded by a RM 100k+ SUV buyer, if they prefer brand over substance. The reason buyers prefer that Proton is simply the better value for money car. Designwise both are traditional 2box SUV so there is nothing to differentiate between them. Design nor pricing has no bearing why X70 is SUV No1 only the better value matters.

      Not gonna happen.

Only Emgrand, Binyue, Boyue and Haoyue for us. Xingrui, Xingyao, Xingyue and Xingyue L will never be sold here.

Why? Because we’re third worlders from a developing country.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 6
      • Just becus we are 3rd world country does not mean we have to be 3rd world mentality which is why Geely hesitant to bring in better models. In China these mentioned are competing pricewise with Japanese and mass European brands yet with better value than both. China people have the maturity to pick Geely and others over those established brands which allowed them to market upperclass cars but as usual come to Malaysia with 3rd world mentality people, they will blindly choose Japanese despite knowingly getting an inferior. Before we expect others to bring in better cars we should change our 3rd world mentality that Japanese = Good.

I seriously wonder what those X70 fanboy defenders of 4 cylinder engine will say when they know that the newly developed world most thermal efficient engine ( Leishen Power) is also a 3 cylinder 1.5L engine.

Nah bro Malaysians very allergic to 3 cylinders lol. if you have 3 cylinder car means you very cheap person who can only afford the cheap stuff. A 3 cylinder will never be as smooth as a 4 cylinder.
The difference between a 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder is not that great, but 3 cylinder and 4 cylinder VERY VERY big difference in terms of refinement.

Sohai punya orang. 3 = Live 4 = Dead. 1 less cylinder = 1 less problem. I buy 3 cylinder any day if the HP and speed is impressive enough. Only low IQ will think more cylinder = more power. So many other factor plays a role bodoh

You are 100% correct!! You see, what happened was when they were designing this car, they were so busy designing the front that all their creative juices were dried up. So instead of ripping off bmw, Audi or Mercedes, they decided to just use the proton iriz design because the iriz is probably one of the BEST DESIGNED car they have ever seen!! And to not make it obvious, they just use the rear lamp. In subsequent cars, they will borrow other design elements from the proton iriz!

Btw I was taking a dump when I wrote this, it was a huge dump, so I had a lot of time.

    • Wahh you think so easy like magic just wish for a LHD car to be RHD and WALAH become reality bro? Sorrylah real world is not like that and for Proton 2 years to make a LHD car into an RHD properly without the faults of a lazy reengineer (see Pugs, Renaults) is a testament to careful work done by Proton engineers to make sure everything was done as best as possible. Making cars is not like nasi goreng bro.
