BYD Malaysia has confirmed the launch of the BYD M6 on October 15, 2024. The electric MPV is already on sale in Indonesia since July, with Thailand following soon after in September, and it won’t be too long before it’s our turn.
The M6 is essentially a revised version of the second-generation e6 and is available with a selection of powertrains. It hasn’t been confirmed exactly what we’re getting but we can reference our neighbours for some idea.
In Indonesia, the M6 comes in three variants priced between 379 million and 429 million rupiah (about RM103k and RM117k). The entry-level Standard (7 Seater) features a 55.4-kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that powers a front-mounted electric motor with 163 PS (161 hp or 120 kW) and 310 Nm of torque. This is good for a NEDC-rated range of 420 km and a 0-100 km/h time of 10.1 seconds.
The remaining two variants are the Superior (7 Seater) and Superior Captain (6 Seater), both of which get a larger 71.8-kWh battery for 530 km of range (NEDC) and a higher specific output of 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) to lower the century sprint time to 8.6 seconds.
The M6 can accept up to 89 kW of DC fast charging, or up to 115 kW for the Superior, the latter taking 40 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80%. Meanwhile, AC charging is limited to 7 kW for all variants.
Shifting over to Thailand, the M6 retails for between 829,900 and 929,900 baht (RM106k and RM119k), with two variants on offer. The base Dynamic has nearly same powertrain specifications as Indonesia’s Standard (7 Seater), albeit with a slightly lower peak DC charging capacity of 85 kW, while the top-spec Extended matches the Superior duo.
We can expect Malaysia to get at least two variants, although nothing has been officially revealed for now. Thankfully, it’s only a week to go before we get up close with the M6, so stay tuned for more updates.

So kereta apa you nak beli? Korea? German? Mampu ke? Atau payslip 3k satu bulan nak beli Civic ketam?
Me too, we need more affordable mpv in malaysia. it would be good if they also bring a hybrid.
Are we getting the Sealion 6 PHEV?
I am not fans of this M6 on its exterior design look quite dated. But if launching in Msia at RM 120k and WLTP about 450km or real world 350km then it is a steal.
Malu apa. Cat balik merah gantung nenas merah bagi Ong. M for Money with 6 zero beli plet nombor 8888 tunggu apa lagi.
