Porsche will debut a new model from its GT division this week, the German manufacturer has teased, showing a dark image of a 911 with a prominent swan-neck rear wing. The latter appears nearly identical to that of the pre-facelift 992-generation GT3, and so the facelifted version of this car is most likely to premiere on October 18, as announced by Porsche.
The debut of the GT3 in this 992 facelift iteration is the likely progression. The motorsport derived model typically follows the debut of the more mainstream variants, which for the 992 facelift has emerged in May this year, and brought the model’s first-ever hybrid system for the GTS variants.
The German manufacturer stated that the new model ‘will be presented in two variants at the same time’, suggesting that it will follow the pre-facelift 992-generation car in rolling out the ‘regular’ GT3 as well as a Touring derivative, albeit this time concurrently whereas prior versions came around half a year after the bewinged car.
Technical specifications for the revised car have yet to be confirmed, though prior form suggests that the GT3 will retain its naturally aspirated, horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine as it has done through the years. Incidentally, the debut of the 992 facelift GT3 comes on the 25th anniversary year of the nameplate.
The upcoming model will offer customers “even more individuality and feature innovative details”, which will be revealed at the car’s debut.
