2025 Royal Enfield Bear 650 unveiled, scrambler style

Shown on its website is the 2025 Royal Enfield Bear 650, sporting a very retro scrambler style. The Bear 650 is named after the Big Bear Run, a desert race in California, US, that was first held in 1921 and still running today.

The name commemorates “Fast” Eddie Mulder’s win of the Big Bear Run in 1960, riding a Royal Enfield 500 single, the trail going from Lucerne to Fawnskin and back. With that in mind, the Bear 650 comes with a number “249” racing plate, celebrating Fast Eddie’s race number.

The Bear 650 uses the Royal Enfield 648 cc parallel-twin as its basis. Going by the specifications sheet, the base 650 twin produces 47 hp at 7.250 rpm with 52 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm.

However, Royal Enfield says the Bear 650 gets more torque lower down the rev range than either the Royal Enfield 650 GT or 650 Interceptor. This equates to 46.7 hp at 7,150 rpm with 56.5 Nm of torque at 5,150 rpm going through a six-speed gearbox to the rear wheel.

Spoked wheel sizing is 19-inches in front and 17-inches at the rear for the Bear 650, wearing 100/90 and 140/80 tubed tyres. Braking is done with single hydraulic discs front and rear, with two-channel ABS as standard.

Weight for the Bear 650 is listed at 216 kg, with 13.6-litres of fuel carried in the tank. In Malaysia, there are four versions of the Royal Enfield 650 on sale, the Interceptor at RM33,700, and the Continental GT 650, retailing at RM35,600, while the Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650 are priced at RM37,900 and RM34,900, respectively.
