Following its debut in Beijing in April this year, the Mazda EZ-6 has now gone on sale in China. The fully electric sedan is offered with or without a range extender and retails for between 139,800 and 179,800 yuan (about RM86k and RM111k), with seven variants offered.
Focusing on the version with a range extender first, the EZ-6 as a pure electric vehicle (EV) features a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 258 PS (255 hp or 190 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. This is powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that support fast charging and can get from a 30-80% state of charge (SoC) in 15 minutes.
The LFP battery comes in two energy capacities, with the 56.1-kWh unit providing up to 480 km of cruising range following China’s generous CLTC standard. There’s also a 68.8-kWh option that bumps the range up to 600 km.
As for the range-extender variants, of which there are four offered, they get a JL473QJ 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine that makes 95 PS (94 hp or 70 kW) and generates electricity for the LFP battery.
The battery capacities are smaller for the REEVs (range-extended electric vehicles) at 18.9 and 28.4 kWh, both capable of fast charging from a 30-80% SoC in 20 minutes. The CLTC-rated pure electric driving range is 130 and 200 km respectively, but the range extender allows for a maximum combined range of up to 1,301 km. Compared to the pure EV variants, the REEV options have a less powerful rear electric motor that serves up 218 PS (215 hp or 160 kW) and 320 Nm.
In China, the EZ-6 is a much larger vehicle than the Mazda 6 is replaces. Measuring 4,921 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,485 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,895 mm, the EZ-6 is 56 mm longer overall compared to the Mazda 6, while being 50 mm wider, 35 mm taller and with a 65 mm longer wheelbase. Both versions of the EZ-6 have the same 479 litres of boot space in the rear, but the non-REEV offers a front trunk (frunk) for an additional 99 litres.
Mazda has already confirmed that the EZ-6 will be a global model, and after China, the sedan will be launched in European markets. It is not known what other regions (including right-hand drive markets) will get the EZ-6, but should this be offered in Malaysia?

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
come Malaysia automatically becomes 186k due to “Mazda”
Any ICE vehicle costing 100 to 150K now will face very fierce competition from EVs once the charging infra is accelerated.
Now,buyers r holding back from EVs due to the charging infra ,which needs a boost.
Imagine you r T15..once petrol shoots up to RM4/litre due to Middle east war,u will be tempted to try Evs..maybe as second car. From Rm2.05 to 4.00/litre ,is almost 100 percent.
thats why dont get so rich, so government can feed you
just like new zealand, gets too rich and be prepared to pay sky high tax rate so that government can help out the poor and lazy
Come to Malaysia become RM250k car…huhuhu Bermaz and Madani govt
Mazda prices didn’t move from Pre-Madani, but why let facts get in the way of your lies?
Come come come
can’t even buy a vios here. gonna be 200k after tax ==”
Bermaz do your thing
If offered in Malaysia, based on Bermaz’s track record, they will gaslight the public that this is an uber-luxury car and they’ll price it above a BMW 5-series and a Mercedes E-class.
Look at what happened to the Kia Sorento in their hands. Total absolute sales failure. “Premium” and “luxury” SUV, says no one ever except for Bermaz. Sad fate for a good product.
UGLY
As a fan of Mazda SkyActive of their enthusiasm and philosophy of Jinba-Ittai, is this a purely Mazda development or just some random hybrid product from Chinese for the sake of EV war they having?
hmm, this is a rebadged 深蓝SL03/Deepal SL03
if this is coming we could get the 深蓝SL03/Deepal SL03 too
compared to Changan Deepal SL03:
1. the birth of EZ-6 has a lot of credit to Changan Automobile, but from the perspective of the underlying structure, the two cars are not a simple shell change logic.
2. the part of the EZ-6 Changan, that is, the core three-electric architecture, the range extender and battery used in the car are all from Changan’s supply chain system.
3. However, the interesting thing is that the drive motor used in the EZ-6 is different from the Changan Deepal SL03. the EZ-6 uses the MSED04 permanent magnet synchronous motor from Changan Mazda, and the SL03 uses the dark blue automobile code XTDM27 motor. However, from the perspective of parameters, the power of both motors is 190kW and the torque is 320Nm.
Meanwhile Msian get Emas from beloved P1 at RM120k for the nooberians specs.
