Off-road SUVs are becoming quite the thing with Chinese automakers, as shown by the growing number of such offerings in their product ranges. Jetour is no exception. It already has the Traveller in place both domestically and in selected foreign markets, where it is known as the T2 (which is coming to Malaysia in Q3 2025), but it is set to significantly expand its offerings in the category.

The T1 is the next model out, with the plug-in hybrid SUV – which slots under the T2 – scheduled to appear in its home market before the year is out. The T1 is also coming to Malaysia, but after the T2. Both the T1 and T2 are classified as light/adventure off-road offerings, and those wanting more terrain-conquering ability will have to look at the T5, which is due to go on sale in China in October next year.

This timeline was revealed during a media presentation at the Jetour Global Travel+ Conference 2024 being held in China right now. Both the upcoming T1 and T5 aren’t new (to sight at least, with the models having appeared in pre-production form at Auto China 2024 in Beijing earlier this year), but there is now a fixed date for the T5’s market deployment. The company also highlighted the planned entry into the Chinese market of a pick-up version of the T5 that will be known as the P5, in 2026.

The more hardcore T5 (which the automaker categorises as a “challengeable off-road” proposition) will be offered in five, six and seven-seat configurations, with the automaker claiming that it will offer the largest space in a vehicle in this class.

The T5 will be equipped with a 2.0 litre turbo engine and dual electric motors, the PHEV system delivering a combined 724 hp (540 kW) and 795 Nm, which is good enough to haul it from standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Earlier news reports indicate that the T5, which measures in at 5,403 mm long, 2,050 mm wide and 1,936 mm tall, with a 3,100 mm-long wheelbase, will have a working range of 1,400 km on a full tank and full battery.

As for the P5, novelties for the pick-up are said to include some revamped mechanicals, a multi-function tailgate and an ell-electric range of 150 km. Like the T5 it is based on, the P5 will feature the same 2.0 litre and two electric motor combination used in the SUV, and while system output wasn’t indicated, it shouldn’t veer far from that seen on the T5.

Jetour is of course set to enter Malaysia. The brand, which sits under the Chery umbrella but operates independently across the globe, as will be the case in Malaysia, was supposed to have debuted its Dashing and a 7-seat SUV earlier this year, but their market introduction has been delayed to early next year).

Given that the Adventure Series models (T2, T1) are set to get here, the T5 and its pick-up sibling could well be on the cards too. However, don’t expect this to be anytime soon. The SUV’s entry into China towards the end of next year means that it will only begin making its way into global markets in 2026, and the P5 for export will take even longer, probably only in 2027.

Globally, the first overseas markets where Jetour models first appear is usually the Middle East, as shown by the T2, which is presently on sale in places such as UAE and Qatar. According to Jetour Auto VP Ke Chuandeng, the reason for this is because homologation is easier in the region.

Aside from another large off-road SUV called the T7, the company has also indicated plans to introduce a model called T0, of which nothing has been revealed yet, aside from the name and its entry-level positioning in the line-up.
