A Neta V caught fire after hitting a lorry tyre on the PLUS highway, KM 277.6 northbound, in the early hours of Saturday (November 9) morning, with all occupants – a driver and two passengers – escaping unharmed.
After receiving an emergency call at 3.31 am, the Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Station dispatched a fire rescue tender, a tanker, two motorcycles and a nine-member team to the scene. Upon finding the EV totally engulfed in flames, the team put out the fire using a portable water mist, two initial hoses, and a foam hose. The operation ended at 6.10 am.
The driver has taken to Facebook to say that his car hit a tyre on the fast lane that got detached from a broken-down lorry by the road shoulder. He said the airbags deployed and he managed to steer the car to the emergency lane and stop. He added that all equipment and the control screen remained operational, including the power tailgate, which could still open, allowing the occupants to retrieve all their belongings. Unfortunately, five minutes later, the Neta V began sparking and then caught fire.
Neta’s Malaysian distributor Intro Synergy has released an official statement to say that “at this stage, there is no indication of any product defect or malfunction”, and that it “appears to have been an isolated accident involving external road hazards.”
Intro Synergy added that it is working closely and cooperating fully with the authorities. It has deployed its technical team and is currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the fire, with further updates to come as soon as more information becomes available.
This is the fifth known EV fire in Malaysia so far this year. Of the other four, one happened during charging and three were due to accidents.

EV owners is sweating
Remember to choose EV runs on LFP batteries. Do avoid getting EV comes with high density NMC batteries prone to thermal runaway after punctured in road accident
Same thing one lah. Those byds with lfp in china are are burning left right centre.
Hey kiddy, miss-information pluck from your anus?
BYD batteries somehow do catch fire when punctured while in operation. Plenty of videos of such incidences on Chinese social media.
Instead of being in denial, better be safe than sorry.
Fully agreed. When you purposely use ice-pick to stab your phone instantly fire combustion may explode as well.
Kamu betul @Ivana DT. You have good observation. Betul tambi pro Israel anti-China ni semua have strong connection with anus. Mereka suka makan dan sapu tahi lembu kat seluruh badan. Tangan yang pegang tahi pun mereka suka sentuh orang dan sentuh makanan biar tambah rasa
Habis? Nak sambut kapal perang China yang ceroboh lautan negara?

When will lorry drivers/owners be held responsible for this. So damn common
We checked. No problem. Neta problem

Thank God the occupants are safe. EV drivers please be alert while you cruise.
So many childish comments. Any car, ev or not, are prone to fire. Hitting anything on the road can cause some impact, friction that trigger fire. Now instead of focussing an EV on fire, why not focus on the root cause, why the hell a tyre can be dislodged from a vehicle? It is happening way too often in Malaysia.
Why no focus on the cause – tyre ? How to increase detection of a stray tyre on a dark road ? Should heavy vehicle tyre be luminous?
The hot seller, very very hot.
malaysian car manufacturers always have the same thing to say “their product has no issue”.
When EV in significant accident, it likely to be write-off. The repairs are either too expensive or burnt-off. Even if got insurance, I don’t think they insurance will pay full amount. As the payout is either against the lower value (market value or sum insured). Good luck.
when buying insurance you can typically choose “Market Value” or “Guaranteed Value” and there’s no penalty in premium cost – you just pay the corresponding premium amount against the sum insured.
As long as you’ve purchased a guaranteed value, that’s the amount you will receive. Insured value is not based on “used car dealer trade-in price”.
I hope the owners can fully claim their insurance since it is an accident after all.
Unlike in US where Toyota won’t honor the warranty for a GR Corolla that went up in flames after they accuse the owner of exceeding 85mph.
Hope owner will try to claim from insurance and Neta like the customer in US did and expect both pay full price of the vehicle. While the tire owner get away for free
Wow….really have to think very hard about getting an
EV for now….
No peace of mind….
Time to roll out the lemon law to protect buyers. Lets see if the MPs are siding the consumers or corporations, I bet the latter
the response from Intro Synergy was very unprofessional and disappointing
Topu bakar
When ice car burn, nobody bat an eyelid. The moment one EV car caught fire, all the anti ev will viral like stupid fried rice influencer.
Do you know that even BMW is prone to fire the moment it crash with it’s rear. The famous was the one that happen in SG which a M2 crashed and burned everyone trapped inside the vehicle. All it take is fuel leak and a hot engine, exhaust manifold or a spark from the battery terminal….Kaboom.
