Proton ProCare Smart Plan introduced for Saga, X90, 2025 X70 – pre-pay for service and save up to RM670

Proton has introduced the ProCare Smart Plan (PSP) prepaid service package, purchasable for new and existing vehicles. Basically you pay up front for servicing, capping your running costs, and Proton says you’ll be saving up to 15%, or as much as RM670, over normal service packages.

Transferable to the next owner, PSP is only available for the Saga, X90 and 2025 X70 for now, but Proton has plans to extend it to all models in the near future.

New car buyers can opt for either a three- or five-year package, respectively covering up to 60,000 and 100,000 km of mileage. Existing owners can purchase it too, although they’re limited to two-year intervals, covering Years 2-3 (30,000-60,000 km), Years 3-4 (50,000-80,000 km) and Years 4-5 (70,000-100,000 km).

It’s financeable too, with an up-to-24-month fixed payment plan available through the Affin Avance Proton credit card or an up-to-12-month instalment plan through Direct Lending – a shariah-compliant digital lending platform partner. Unofficially, this can be used as a tool to bump up the purchase price to get full loans, similar to Perodua’s GearUp accessories.

“Proton remains focused on making improvements to the product and services offering to our customers and the ProCare Smart Plan is the latest example of these efforts, combining industry leading levels of after sales service at Proton outlets with peace of mind for the customer, knowing that scheduled maintenance costs for their vehicles are capped for the next three or five years.

“This not only assists in better budget management but also helps to increase the retained value of the vehicle,” said Proton Edar sales and after sales VP Edmund Lim.

I wonder if this is Proton’s way to resolve the issue of service centres not strictly adhering to what needs to be done at what intervals.

The biggest mistake that I ever made, buying Proton. Nobody will admit since they’ve already purchased but it’s advisable to go for other options. Extremely disappointing.
