Polestar 7 premium compact SUV to be made in Europe; Polestar 5 sales to begin second half of 2025

Polestar has announced that it will be rolling out the Polestar 7 as a premium compact SUV, and this model will be produced in Europe.

This will be of a size comparable with the Range Rover Evoque, and the Polestar 7 will mark the company’s transition from a multi-platform approach to its model range, to one that uses a single architecture aimed at reducing complexity, cost and investments, according to the company.

At present, the Polestar 2 uses the CMA platform used by the Volvo EX40, the Polestar 3 uses the SPA2 platform that underpins the EX90, and the Polestar 4 is built on the Geely SEA platform. The Polestar 5 and 6 have been tipped to use versions of the SEA platform, says the publication; the brand plans to begin sales of the Polestar 5 in the second half of this year.

The exact location for Polestar’s European production site has yet to be disclosed, however Autocar has reported that the EV brand has been known to be looking at a Geely plant that is under construction in Slovakia.

The Polestar 7 was previously said to emerge in 2027, according to former Polestar chief Thomas Ingenlath, however current Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller did not reveal the model’s launch date during his presentation, according to Autocar.

Polestar stated that its updated business plan aims for sales growth of between 30% and 35% from this year to 2027, with positive free cash flow after investments expected in 2027.

“We are speeding up our retail expansion and commercial transformation, whilst adjusting our future model line-up and significantly reducing our cost base. Both in terms of volumes and financials, we expect 2025 to be the strongest year in Polestar’s history,” Lohscheller said.

The EV brand is expediting its shift to an active selling model with new retail partners and retail spaces, it said, and it plans to grow the number of retails spaces from 70 to 130 in Europe, and from 36 to 57 in North America. The existing direct-to-consumer online sales model will remain, offering customers a choice in how they wish to purchase Polestar models.

Risky company. This is not handphone cover. You need support from the manufacturer.
