Top 20 cars in March 2025 – Bezza, Axia, Myvi, Saga, Alza top 5; City, Vios outsell S70, HR-V beats X50

The JPJ vehicle registration data for the month of March 2025 has shown that the Malaysian automotive landscape has somewhat returned to normalcy, at least for the top 20 best-selling models that you can see here.

After a rather odd start to the year, the Perodua Bezza is now firmly at the top of the list (8,517 units in March, 23,335 YTD), followed by the Axia (7,031, 21,223 YTD) and then the Myvi (6,593 ,18,183 YTD) – the traditional top three order. The Proton Saga is in a solid fourth place (5,891, 15,364 YTD), though the brand’s claim of it selling over 6,000 units evidently includes quite a few export sales too.

Moving further down, the Honda City had an impressive showing in March, with its 3,541 units (City Sedan and Hatchback combined) outgunning the Perodua Ativa (3,154), Toyota Vios (2,360) and Proton S70 (2,119). The S70, at the very least, has jumped the Civic again to regain its class lead, having lost it in February.

Meanwhile, the Honda HR-V (2,676) continued to outsell the Proton X50 (1,795) and Toyota Corolla Cross (1,486), while the CR-V (1,077) narrowly beat the only Chinese car on the list, the Jaecoo J7 (1,068). The J7 is still ahead on the YTD list, though – 2,706 vs 2,399.

The Toyota Hilux remains as the only pick-up truck model in the top 20 with 1,745 units registered in March, while the Mitsubishi Xpander (949) continues to feature on the list, though barely.

    • Studied carefully, you will know why toyota is losing sales to honda, especially if take out combination between sedan and hatchback, still honda wins over toyota with hatchback are competitive but only toyota fanboys can’t accept reality on why toyota sales are losing to honda

        • Wait till it comes, it’s too early to conclude. Yes, 2024, Toyota is king of non-national car brand, but for 2025, wait and see, it’s too early for you to conclude
