Proton has outlined the roadmap for over-the-air (OTA) updates that will be applied to the Proton eMas 7 electric SUV, according to a post on the Proton eMas 7 Community Malaysia Facebook page. Last week, it was learnt that the carmaker rolled out the Flyme Auto S version 1.1.4 firmware update for a host of fixes.
According to a presentation slide that was photographed, the over-the-air updates are pushed to customer vehicles on a quarterly basis. Completed so far as of its April OTA update are charging start/stop button, optimised braking and the ability for owners to view the vehicle’s location when it is asleep.
The next update set for the second quarter of this year, to be rolled out approximately in July, will include wireless Apple CarPlay, switchable “ice-cream van” sound, access to third-party apps, radio scanning fix, as well as other to-be-announced improvements.
This will be followed by updates scheduled for Q3 2025, to be released approximately in October. These will include wired Apple CarPlay, a memory function for speed warning switching, and other improvements. Wrapping up the updates timeline in Q4 2025 in December will be wired and wireless Android Auto, along with other updates.
Launched towards the end of last year, the Proton eMas 7 made its debut with two variants – Prime and Premium – each with a front-mounted electric motor producing 218 PS and 320 Nm. This propels Proton’s first electric SUV from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 175 km/h.
The Prime starts the range with a 49.52 kWh battery offering 345 km of range while the Premium brings a 60.022 kWh unit that is good for 410 km (both on the WLTP testing standard), and both are the Geely Aegis short-blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
Charging the eMas 7 from 30 to 80% takes 20 minutes using DC fast charging at up to 100 kW with the Premium (80 kW for the Prime), while a full charge using an 11 kW AC wallbox takes 4.9 hours for the Prime and 6.1 hours for the Premium. The eMas 7 is also the first Proton to get a suite of driver assistance features, including Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities.
