Proton Saga MC3 – new boot line for upcoming sedan?

Proton Saga MC3 – new boot line for upcoming sedan?

A spy image of the Proton Saga MC3 has surfaced once again, this time by Muhammad Shamim as posted to the paultan.org Automotive/Car discussion Facebook group.

This image of the national carmaker’s upcoming model appears to show that Proton has reworked the bootline of the sedan, here appearing to be longer than on the cars from previous sightings.

While prior spy images have not really offered an identical viewing angle such as this one, it would appear that the way the C-pillar meets the bootline is now less tapered, and wears a more pronounced kink for a more defined three-box shape, at least relative to the development car sighted in January.

From earlier spy images, concealment of the headlamps on the development car in April suggested that there will be major changes in this area, possibly to become the first Saga to be specified with LED headlamps. These will come as part of a comprehensive update along with a new front bumper, a larger grille, reshaped headlamps, a re-profiled bonnet, new tail lamps and a new boot lid.

The Saga MC3 has also been confirmed to get a suite of ADAS functions, as revealed through a partnership announcement between China’s Imotion Automotive Technology and Proton’s long-term vendor Delloyd Technology that is to “accelerate the development and adoption of ADAS [advanced driver assistance] systems for the AMA01.”

A new engine is in order for the Saga MC3, too, as the brand’s entry-level sedan could receive a new, all-aluminium unit from Geely’s powertrain division Aurobay, which is a close relation of the 1.5 litre turbocharged, direct-injection mill in the facelifted Proton X50.

A new engine for MC (minor change) really? Wasting time if it’s a same campro with additional useless adas plus price hike.

The current Saga bootline is a not nice. yuck! is my comment of current highly gradient boot line. the side radius seems too large too.. the early gen FLX may be 3 box like design, it is proportionally good. i like it!!
Hopefully this MC3 will improve on this point. the gradient and side radius need to reduce… never mind that it is 3 box design like. Passat and Jetta too looks like 3 box design but it didn’t devalue the car design

some says saga remain minor change. meaning everything remain same. and those leak headlight and interior is persona replacement S50.

some says S50 is saga’s internal code and saga will have 2 type of body like axia doing currently. current face remain as low specs, new face will only be top specs.

just wait and see the actual product

It could be right, with current Saga remaining in A+ segment while an all new model may appear in the B segment known as S50 as Persona replacement. Saga could be renamed as S30, but these maybe all just guesses only.

Simple A+ segment model and Proton taking so long to do a minor change. During that period, another Chinese company would have developed and launch several models with no fuss about hundreds of thousands of hours of testing or development

Why bother with this when the entire car already leaked on the internet. Not render image but real product without camouflage.

I guess the media already seen the preview of car but keep their mouth shut because under NDA

Go test drive the Current Proton Saga first , then you’ll see just how outdated the car is.
The Saga has been on our roads for Sooo many years, yet Proton still want to keep the same Old Saga in production without any updates. If car brands like Hyundai Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and TATA MOTORS can can learn from their competitors and update their cars, why Proton and Perodua can’t?
It all depends on whether the Top People in Proton and the Top People in Perodua want to do it….or not.
