Lexus Malaysia has silently introduced the new RX 500h F Sport Special Edition, which is a new, limited-run variant priced at RM512,888 on-the-road without insurance. That amount is RM4,000 more than the existing RX 500h F Sport it is based on, which was introduced in August 2023 at RM499,888, but has since had its price revised upwards by RM10,000 to RM508,888. The base RX 350 Luxury maintains its asking price of RM468,888.
According to the company’s social media postings, the RX 500h F Sport Special Edition (we’re going to call it the Special Edition from this point onwards) is limited to just 50 units and features fine details to make it stand out.
Looking at the dedicated page on the official website, the Special Edition comes with a Graphite Black exterior paint finish as well as an exclusive Black Sport Package. The latter includes front and rear bumper mouldings in piano black, with the hue also used for the side rocker panels. Elsewhere, the puddle lamps now come with an F Sport emblem projection.
Lexus Malaysia also touts upgraded suspension, although it did not provide much in the way of details. Our guess is a retuning of the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which is already present in the RX 500h F Sport. The 21-inch matte black wheels are the same size as those on the reference variant and still fitted with 235/50 profile tyres, but with a revised five twin-spoke design.
Beyond these changes, the rest of the Special Edition is the same as the RX 500h F Sport. The powertrain is based around a T24A-FTS 2.4 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine that serves up 275 PS (271 hp) and 460 Nm of torque. The hybrid bits include a front electric motor rated at 87 PS (86 hp) and 292 Nm that is positioned between the engine and six-speed automatic transmission.
A separate electric motor at the back – known as the eAxle – serves up 103 PS (102 hp) and 169 Nm to make up the Direct4 all-wheel drive system. Total system output is 371 PS (366 hp) and 550 Nm to enable a 0-100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds. Rear-wheel steering is part of the powertrain too, with the rear wheels able to turn up to four degrees to make for easier manoeuvring.
Interior features include F Sport Dark Spin Aluminium trim, suede upholstery with Kageri L-pattern embossing, a three-spoke F Sport steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, a digital rear-view mirror, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system and powered front seats with ventilation function.
As for active safety, the car gets the full Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+) suite, which consists of Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with stop and go function as well as Curve Speed Reduction, Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Adaptive High-beam System (AHS) with BladeScan and Road Sign Assist (RSA). There’s also a Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist, Rear Traffic Cross Alert (RTCA) and a panoramic view monitor with 3D imagery.
