Le Tour de Langkawi race finale at KLCC this weekend – city centre stretches of Jalan Ampang closed

Here’s another reason to not step anywhere near KL city centre this weekend. In addition to the KL Standard Chartered Marathon 2025 – which will see road closures in the city and DUKE/AKLEH highways – the Le Tour De Langkawi (LtdL) 2025 cycling event’s final stage will end at KLCC.

The world’s top cycling teams will end their tour of Peninsular Malaysia at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers (Petronas is the event’s title sponsor), and as such, roads around the iconic landmark will be closed to make way for the event.

Tomorrow night (October 4), two lanes of Jalan Ampang near KLCC (from Wisma Central to the Jalan P.Ramlee junction will be closed to traffic. The closure will be from 11.30 pm till 7am the following day (Sunday, October 5).

Sunday is race day as the 180.5 km final stage from Tangkak flows into the city. Jalan Ampang will be fully closed to traffic from the Jalan Tun Razak intersection to the Jalan P.Ramlee junction. This is from 1pm to 9pm. Also fully closed is the Jalan Ampang stretch between Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and Jalan Mayang, from 3.30 pm to 7pm.

While the LtdL road closures focus more on the roads approaching KLCC, the roads closed for KLSCM are more comprehensive as the full marathon’s 42.195 km route is basically a city tour plus a long slog of AKLEH and DUKE highways, before ending at Stadium Merdeka – full details on that one here. Basically, avoid KL city this weekend if you don’t have any essential business there.

TunM old us to Look East so our rempits took inspiration from Initial D and the glory of street racing and trying to be the Keiichi Tsuchiya of Japanese kapcai. You can blame the Japanese for our rempit culture. They provided the bikes, they provided the idea.

With 2 major road events, expect KL roads total lockdown this week. Why can’t they plan one after another? Also stupid PH DBKL for approving 2 major events in the same week.
