Alfa Romeo is coming back to Malaysia, and the date is set – November 20, which is this Thursday. The date was revealed in Alfa Romeo Malaysia’s latest teaser, which reads “Power, perfectly poised. Beauty, ready to move. The streets will soon glow in Alfa Rosso once again. 20.11.2025.”

If you’re a follower of this page, you’d have heard of concrete news about Alfa Romeo’s return to Malaysia – in an interview with Stellantis ASEAN MD Isaac Yeo in August, he told paultan.org that Alfa Romeo and Jeep will be returning to our market with a ‘hybrid model system’ operating a ’boutique style’ business, which suits the low volume of the two storied brands. Read more here.

Earlier this month, Alfa Romeo Malaysia welcomed registrations of interest for the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV, both in the Veloce trim level, which sits below the full-fat Quadrifoglio versions in the sporting scale.

The duo will be offered with the most potent “standard” engine – a 2.0L turbo-four producing 280 PS and 400 Nm of torque from 2,250 to 4,500 rpm. With a ZF eight-speed automatic, the Giulia and Stelvio Veloce (the latter comes with all-wheel drive) does the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.7 seconds. A Q2 limited-slip rear differential also comes standard.

The launch models will be CBU imports, and they won’t be cheap as a result, but Stellantis is very proud of its plant in Gurun. Soon, the plant in Kedah will be giving Leapmotor EVs a leg up when the CBU tax-free window for EV closes – could it also help Alfa Romeo out with a CKD programme and prices that are competitive with the likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz? Unlikely perhaps, but stranger things have happened…

Anyway, what do you think of the Milanese brand’s return, the Giulia and the Stelvio? Are you an Alfisti? Many years ago, I was bitten by the serpent and was this close to being seduced into the Romeo’s world of beauty and pain. Very dangerous, and now very close to its return.
