PLUS Malaysia has announced that Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS) camera calibration works will be carried out on KM265.3 (Southbound) on the North-South Expressway (NSE). This will be carried out tonight, Tuesday (November 25) from 11pm until 3am the following morning.
Highway users are advised to adhere to the instructions of all traffic signage, as well as instructions by PLUS when passing through the affected area.
The recently updated hardware for AWAS emerged in August 2024, and transport minister Anthony Loke stated in January this year that the roll-out of the point-to-point camera system was to prevent drivers from merely slowing down in front of a speed camera, but to slow down within a certain distance.
“We don’t want drivers to slow down just in front of the camera, but (slow down) within a certain distance. Let’s say between point A and point B, we want to know how long the driver takes. If he uses less time than he should, it means he is speeding and will be subject to action,” Loke said at the time.

In law, any offence must be proven with evidence. The authorities cannot rely on assumptions or estimations without clear, credible evidence. The prosecution must prove beyond reasonable doubt that the offence took place.
Exactly. Assumptions cannot be used as evidence. Any lawyer care to chip in?
Those were certified and calibrated law enforcement assets and can be used as proof of evidence.
dont be surprised, that gomen is already proceeding to amend the relevant law
So can speeding at this opening window time.
Stop using high ways, this same Loke yew was complaining about AES camera and now he doing the opposite to collect more money from public
stop using highways? a better idea would be to stop speeding.
Interpolation of average vehicle speed using two points of constant speed limit is pretty smart move. Just use AI to compute offences and human to verify. It will probably reduce fatality on the Malaysia road which is aming the highest in asia.

Malaysia. Sell fast car and sports car. Now we are in tech day. Just set the cutoff limit. On the ecu. Setel. No need to wasting money investing in ai and camera. Later on. Only ambulance and goverment vehicle on. Gets the ticket. Also. The one whe modify the car. If the car can go above the speed limit. For sure its has been modified
It sucks, but I think it’s a pretty smart move. Unfortunately, no more speeding for me
