The Honda City is a five-seat B-segment sedan for buyers who want a conventional four-door with a choice of petrol or hybrid power. The 2023-facelift GN2/GN3 range starts at RM84,900, spanning four 119 hp 1.5-litre petrol variants and the 205 hp e:HEV RS.

City in 2026 — what's new

In Malaysia, the Honda City carries into 2026 in its 2023-facelift GN2/GN3 form. The range remains the 1.5 S, E, V and RS petrol models, all using a 1,498 cc 119 hp engine, front-wheel drive and CVT, plus the front-wheel-drive e:HEV RS with 205 hp and eCVT. Thailand’s 2026 City facelift brings a 10-inch touchscreen, 360-degree camera and ambient lighting there.

Which variant to buy

Most buyers should begin with the 1.5 S at RM84,900: it shares the same 1,498 cc, 119 hp petrol engine, FWD layout and CVT as the RM89,900 E, RM94,900 V and RM99,900 RS. On paper, the extra RM5,000 steps buy trim rather than mechanical changes, so check the equipment lists before moving up. Choose the RM111,900 e:HEV RS only if its 205 hp hybrid/REV powertrain and eCVT matter more than the RM12,000 jump from RS.

Verdict

Petrol buyers get a clear ladder, but the identical 119 hp mechanical package across S to RS means specification needs to justify each RM5,000 increase. The entry City costs RM1,012 more than the Nissan Almera’s starting price, but remains RM5,700 below the Toyota Vios. At RM99,900 and RM111,900, the RS petrol and e:HEV sit above the RM93,800 top of the listed B-segment rival price span.
