Which variant to buy

Most buyers should start with the RM73,800 Executive, because all four listed trims share the same 178 hp 1.5-litre petrol engine, front-wheel drive and wet dual-clutch automatic. Premium costs RM79,800, Flagship is RM89,800 and Flagship X is RM94,800. The RM6,000 step to Premium, RM16,000 to Flagship or RM21,000 to Flagship X does not buy extra power or a different drivetrain. Pay more only after checking that the specific trim equipment suits your needs.

Verdict

The S70’s appeal is direct: a 178 hp 1.5-litre turbocharged engine in a C-segment sedan priced below the listed entry prices of the three named class rivals. Cabin room and equipment are central strengths. But fit-and-finish issues and equipment omissions deserve a close inspection before signing. Its scheduled maintenance uses fully synthetic oil, filters and the seven-speed DCT.
