SPYSHOTS: New Mitsubishi Triton facelift in Sarawak

Mitsubishi_Triton_Facelift_Malaysia_01

Here’s a nice scoop – reader Joshua Ling spotted this Mitsubishi Triton in Sarawak wearing the latest Pajero Sport’s updated front face. It looks like the popular pickup truck is getting yet another facelift to keep it showroom fresh before the next-generation Triton arrives in the next year or two.

What is clear to see is that, for the very first time in the ladder-frame duo’s history, the Triton will share the same front-end with the recently-facelifted Pajero Sport. Curiously though, this “new-face” Triton has yet to be launched in any other markets, so either it’s making its world debut here, or it’s a special Malaysia-only update. You can compare the new and old looks in the picture below.

Apart from the new bumper, grille and alloy wheels, the facelift also introduces projector headlamps to the Triton range. The rest of the car stays as it was before, though it looks like the wing mirror-mounted signal lamps and unique rear sports bar, previously exclusive to the Triton VGT, will filter down to standard models.

It is yet unknown if the new look will be applied throughout Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s extensive Triton range, including the Triton Heavy Duty, Single Cab and LITE Turbo. But as the car has already made its way to a showroom in Sarawak, it appears it won’t be long till we find out.

  • At least it’s face lifted and looks ok. Will they give the option of short rear bed also?
Will they give the 2 din navigator also? Headache on how to put a double din in triton.

Where is the Colorado muscle edition? The one with 500Nm torque with its 2.8 liter engine. Is it already officially launch?

    • Bro, the ads for the Chevy is out already so must be available already. Not sure whether its the muscle edition or not. The stats: 193 hp(200 ps), 500 Nm, 0-100 in 10 secs.

  • I am not sure if this is a good move, especially from a Pajero Sport owner’s POV. Seeing that the Pajero Sport is a good 50-70k more expensive than the Triton, some form of styling differentiation would be nice to justify the extra price.

The pricier looking headlamps are what mark the Pajero Sport apart from Triton in the past. With this, you can’t anymore.

Well… Apart from one being a pickup and the other, a heavy duty off road MPV? :p

Afaik, the FLed Triton VGT is being sold alongside the old Triton. although curiously, it’s priced at a very high 110k with oddly enough, equipped with a sunroof.

  • new model please. enough with facelifts. the new ranger is out for a couple of years already, so i think its time for Toyota and Mitsubishi to come up with replacement model.
