This was the car that started it all for BMW’s M division back in 1970s, the BMW M1. It featured a 6-cylinder engine and is the only BMW series sports car with the engine installed in a mid-engine position. The body was designed by Giugiaro, and it was hand-built from 1978 to 1981, with only 456 built. Watch the video after the jump.

Sweet… the M1 was rilly a unique BMW… it still looks decent despite it’s age :)
unique. The only bmw car with 2 badges at the rear bootlid.
Can’t top that record
I remember I saw one in Malaysia – back in 1982, at Terminal 2 Airport Subang..
2 badges at the rear..that is really funky
BMW turbo
BMW M1
the unique for these car is the rear has twin badge,
is there any other car in the world have twin badge (logo) at the rear like M1?
i was fortunate enough to watch Hans Stuck himself race an M1 race car in batu 3 many many years ago
look a bit like the De Lorean DMC….. but back then, the wedge-shaped is the hottest trend…..
A problem with the video? I had to replay it 4 times before I could finish viewing it. And even then I could not finish the last part after the art car
