Back and in full swing, so it seems to be shaping up for Brit sports car maker, Trident. Word is the revived company recently re-debuted its Iceni, with the long-term project now finally set for production. If you’ve been following the progress, you’ll know that the car has been around for a few years now, but very much in limbo.
The showing of the car continues, with the Iceni Grand Tourer set to go on display at the Salon Privé 2012 in London next month. As far as specifications go, the front-engine rear-wheel drive vehicle looks to have the same set of running gear as when first bandied.
In this case, cue a Isuzu-designed GM 6.6 litre V8 Duramax turbocharged oil burner, which features Trident’s Torque Multiplication technology and is capable of running on mineral diesel, biodiesel, palm oil and linseed oil.
Numbers include a 430 hp and 1,286 Nm output at under 3,250 rpm – an option to upgrade to a 660 hp and 1,422 Nm output tune is available, says Trident. The car gets to nearly 320 km/h and does the century sprint in 3.7 seconds.
Prospective owners will have to fork out a mere £75,000 (RM371,000) for one of these Norfolk-built pieces. So, will the Iceni now make it into road-going form? It’s looking promising, so fingers crossed, if you’re a Trident fan that is.
