It’s not every day you get to meet a Formula One driver, let alone have your car refuelled by one! Nico Rosberg was in town for the pre-launch of Petronas’ 1,001st station yesterday, located in Wangsa Maju. He gamely joined in the antics of the dance crew that was present, before filling up the cars of six lucky winners of retail arm Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB)’s recent Facebook contest.
Rosberg also signed a message on a poster advertisement in the station concourse to mark the occasion, watched by company officials, members of the media and fans. He gave autographs and even signed the shirt of an excited fan who came from Ampang just for the event.
“Congratulations to Petronas on the opening of their 1,001st station. Last year, we did a programme at the first ever Petronas station (Taman Tun Dr Ismail) and today I am at the 1,001st station which is an impressive accomplishment,” said the 27-year old Mercedes GP driver.
The event was also targeted at highlighting F1-inspired Petronas products such as the PRIMAX 95 XTRA and PETRONAS Syntium.
“Petronas’ involvement in F1 is an important commercial step for us; not only in developing, providing and supplying all the fuels, lubricants and fluids to the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team but also in the engineering of the most intelligent fuel and lubricant products for our consumers. To have Nico here today represents that connection beautifully!” said PDB senior general manager Akbar Mohd Thayoob.
Rosberg finished an impressive fifth at the Singapore GP last weekend, a result which he said he was very pleased with.
If you’re a fan you can check out Rosberg’s message, handwritten in marker pen on the concourse wall – the station is on Jalan 2/27A in Wangsa Maju (just opposite the intersection from Royal Selangor).
For the amount of money he earns, he should be cleaning the windshields too..
thats just a dumb comment.. He earns that much because he worked hard for it. He’s a nice guy in real life, your just mean..
Wow thats pretty cool that he did that for someone. He probably made their day.
Petronas paid so much for an aging driver like Schumacher who loves crashing other drivers from the back and sideways. e.g latest one in Singapore. What a waste .
did he pay the gas for the customers? or just do the action of refueling the car?
even F1 drivers need part-time jobs.. tough economy these days..
lol the way he corrects the word on the poster…
According to association of bangla petrol filler, they are not satisfied why petronas need a germans to fill in the petrol ,that guy not even wash the windshield like they do…and they even look better in that green uniform…
Do u think that the girl aware of who is Nico Rosberg? hehe
no lar… she’s just happy ‘cos a lot of photogs there to snap her pics…
