PLUS Travel Time Advisory for Chinese New Year

TTA-raya-cina-2013-Eng

PLUS has released its Travel Time Advisory (TTA) in an effort to promote smoother traffic flow during the Chinese New Year holidays and to help motorists plan their journeys.

The TTA provides recommended staggered travel times for various destinations from the Klang Valley to major cities in Kedah, Perlis, Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Singapore.

“We expect those in the Klang Valley to start leaving for their kampungs on February 8 and 9 (Friday and Saturday),” said PLUS CEO Datuk Noorizah Haji Abdul Hamid.

“As such, based on the TTA, we advise those heading towards Kedah, Perlis, Penang and Johor to enter the North-South Expressway before 12 pm, whereas those heading towards other destinations such as Kuala Kangsar, Changkat Jering, Taiping and Malacca can enter the highway between 12 pm and 3 pm.”

On the other hand, those heading towards destinations closer to the Klang Valley are advised to enter the highway at later hours.

The highway concessionaire expects traffic on the North-South Expressway to increase by 30% to 1.4 million vehicles per day during this festive period. Motorists are advised to call the toll-free PLUSLine at 1-800-88-0000 for the latest traffic updates.

This is sheer rip off. They are raking billions for the cronies. All festive seasons should be given completely free.

too many cars at the highway and i was caught in non-moving traffic jam, at rest areas between Bidor and Simpang Pulai as too many drivers stopped for a nap, even under flyovers because they were trying off peak hours.

i was caught in the jam at 4am in the morning!!

what more can i say, so long as the govt allows 500,000 new cars every year on the road i guess we all have to make do with it.

Just called the hotline, no discounts but rebates. In the 7th, 10th and 15th. Operator said must go to plus
Office to claim rebate. The dates of the rebates really not about helping but maximising profits….

I don’t trust the so-called rebate like Raya last year. People will flood the highway to get the rebate and causing massive volume of vehicles on the highway. This snail moving traffic makes us as a user paying more in terms of fuel consumption..

I think it is work in progress but as usual la, even if it has been built, you will not use it anyway with reasons such as I need my car woorr..how to visit frens during CNY??

Nothing that you can do with it..so either you leave for home early or shutdup and endure the long crawl like everybody else..

  • they should consider widen the highway all the way from KL to PG.

2 lanes highway was so 10 years ago.

    • Further more there should be bypass lane for traffic to pass thru at jam exit eg Seremban etc.

Will need to monitor the traffic. Via radio, twitter etc. If the highway are jammed, I’d rather use the old trunk road. At least if you have to be stuck in jam, you don’t have to pay toll for it.

  • Give me 50% discount at off peak hours like 1a.m.
I’ll drive that during that time.

the rebate has to be claimed at the PLUS office. Most of the time people will not go to claim the rebate. So the ‘rebate’ remains in PLUS’ bank account and accumulate interest.
Drug trafficking can be punishable by death but there are still people trafficking drug. Just how many people will follow this ‘advisory’ ?

    Hi
Appreciate if anyone can advise me if the North-south highway be congested on CNY day itself on 19 Feb 2015.
    Thanks
