SPIED: Next-gen Chevrolet Captiva caught testing

chevrolet-captiva-mule-2

Hang on a minute – that’s a Chevrolet Orlando, isn’t it? Well, not quite – under the body of this test mule, captured by our European spies CarPix, lurks something rather different.

We know GM is working on the next-gen Chevrolet Captiva for 2015, and that it’s said to sit on a versatile new platform called D2XX, which will also underpin the next Chevrolet Cruze.

A quick look under the car reveals a 4WD system – which the Orlando doesn’t have – and twin tailpipes. The mule also reportedly has a slightly shorter wheelbase than the Orlando, and a front end that’s been modified to make room for the new engine and cooling.

And while we’re at it, those aren’t Orlando headlamps, are they? Reports say the new Chevrolet Captiva might borrow some of the Opel Mokka‘s looks, but as always, we’ll have to wait and see.

  • not very interesting. to me, visibility wise thats a big D pillar and also sort of small rear window for such a big car. unless they are gonna fit it with safety technologies to compensate. anyway we re gonna have to wait for the final product

Yes you are right. Though I have been commenting here for months and I think your views are absurd, I agree with you, its a Daewoo in disguise.

If this is the new Captive, I’d say it’s ugly like shit! It looks more like a tame MPV to me.

  • GM has lost it’s modjo.. The design language is getting worse through time. Something about the headlight that doesn’t seem right

If I am the CEO, I would’ve told the designer to get back to the drawing board!

  • The Test Mule is using Chevy Spark headlamps.
Guys, this is just a test mule, they are testing the running gear/platform under the modified Orlando body.

The head lamps are like the older model of Ssangyong Starvic. Ugly look.

Just realised that most readers in this blog are quick to judge and slow to read. It is written clearly in the first paragraph that this is a TEST MULE. So why the in the world are you commenting about the design? This reflects your shallow mind and narrow vision. -_-

Now you know why Malaysia is still a 3rd-world country despite the English literacy rate. Being able to read and speak doesn’t necessarily translate to comprehension skills.
