Fiat tuner Abarth wil be showing the Abarth 595 ’50th Anniversary’ at the upcoming Frankfurt show. The special edition, limited to just 299 units, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original 595, which made its debut half a century ago at the 1963 Turin Motor Show.
The livery on this hot Fiat 500 sees the colour (matte three-layer white), the historical Abarth logos and the original “Fiat Abarth 595” graphics on the side reinterpreted. Inside, the 595 gets red leather sports seats with white inserts and red stitching. The classic scorpion logo adorns both the steering wheel and kick plate. Both old and new have sunroofs.
Under that small hood is a 180 hp 1.4 litre T-Jet engine, which is combined with the “Abarth Competizione” gearbox. Helping the soundtrack is the “Record Monza” variable back-pressure “dual mode” exhaust, designed to improve engine performance and deliver an inspiring sound over 3,000 rpm.
The brakes have also been further strengthened – you’re looking at Brembo 305 mm floating brake discs that can be dismantled with fixed four-piston calipers. Special shock absorbers and 17-inch “695 Magnesio Grey” alloys complete the package. Sexy lil thing, but some might prefer it topless.
