Ops Titik – over RM360 million saved from May-Sept

diesel-pix-wm

The government says that a special operation to prevent the smuggling and unauthorised sale of subsidised diesel has saved RM361.58 million. Ops Titik, which was launched in mid-May and ran until September, prevented the leakage of 142 million litres of subsidised diesel, Bernama reports.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Comsumerism (KPDNKK) minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek told reporters that the operation had reduced government spending on subsidy for the duration. He added that the leakage of subsidised diesel had been brought under control. “The perennial problem of subsidised diesel being out-of-stock come month end at petrol stations is no longer happening,” he said.

The leakage involves the purchase of the fuel by quarters who are not eligible for the subsidy – there is at price difference in diesel for those eligible for subsidised fuel and those who are not.

A new system to ensure subsidised diesel and petrol is sold only to eligible commercial vehicles was supposed to have begun from September. The ministry added that a similar system for private vehicles would be implemented in October or November, and said the government is targeting a saving of RM9.8 billion through the implementation of the new system, which would could curb abuses and leakages.

Ahmad Maslan will tell you harga minyak already turun. However, harga and tax are 2 different things

and the G need to collect tax minyak from you, lagi banyak harga turun, lagi banyak cukai dikutip, syiok syiok syoik the G said.

Face the fact, the amount of money save is very much less than the money wasted

tng, crude oil price is directly related to fuel used in our cars. When crude oil price drops, the fuel used in our car should drop at the same quantum as well.

It doesn’t make sense when crude oil price drop & fuel used in our car increases.. Where is your logical sense?

        • Littlebear. I am pretty sure, after adding in the refining cost and distribution cost, cost is still more than RM2.20

Wow you are the loud mouth here.

Everyone knows that there are other cost to Petrol, namely refining (~12%) and marketing and distribution.

Currently, Petrol prices in US is about USD3.0/US gallon (3.78L). Which means the RM equivalent is $2.60/L. There is a 13% federal tax on fuel, so the price without tax is about 2.27/L

I would hazard a guess that our refining cost along with distribution would be less than the US equivalent since you don’t have to truck fuel so far..

So the 2.30 we pay now, is more than the US prices before federal tax. Subsidize what?

Of course we can only guess what numbers our lovely government is cooking up.

        • 4G63T DSM. Malaysia’s own crude oil are high quality and shipped out to get higher price. Then Malaysian imported low quality crude oil for domestic use. So there is still quite a bit of transportation cost involved.

Crude oil refining cost are hard to find.

As if it makes any difference.

You think US crude all come from Texas?

If you are talking refining, we still refine at a lower (cheaper) grade as getting sulfur out is expensive.

Are you saying that our refineries are so ineffient that even refining at lower purities and yet still cost more?

How will local distribution be more expensive? Our petrol tankers only need to go so far.

I may even go as far to hazard that there is plenty of songlap along the way to increase “costs”.

Don’t try to justify your means wihout any figures.

          • When crude oil price drops, cost for Distribution and Marketing and Refining remains constant and in % terms, increases to well over 20%

        • It’s in the news today. The price without subsidy is RM2.42 per liter. So I was right to guess real market price is still above RM2.30 per liter

    • 1. Crude oil is USD80 per barrel or RM1.65 per liter.
      2. Assuming cost of refining and profit is about USD0.30 or RM0.95
      3. So total cost is probably about RM2.60. How much at the pump now?

Why don’t you look up my source. It is more accurate and more updated.

The one you posted is from California, arguably, the highest in US.

No need to be so complicated. Just take pump prices, and remove state and federal taxes and you get the base price.

There is no running away with it, when base crude prices fall, pump prices will go down. I think most people here is intelligent to know this is not 1:1.

…that the government and government organisation is very intently monitoring Paultan comment section for what to improve next (since they are obviously inadequate at making sound judgement themselves). Except perhaps when it comes to suggestion that would hurt cronies (AP anyone?) and they wouldn’t touch that with a ten foot pole.

Comment on the need to make ESC standard? DONE.
Comment to curtail subsidised gas siphoning? DONE.
Comment to reduce taxes if they gonna impose tier based gas subsidy (which I’m still vehemently opposed BTW)? DONE
Comment to nab perpetrator and road offender without giving any heads up? DONE.

Of course, if this is just for show and temporary until all “the ineffective government thing” tides over, I do not know. I sincerely hope they keep this up and do this regularly. But only time will be a good judge.

If you are reading this you government personnel, the next thing to do would be to send tonnes of crony money to any white Honda Insight driver. Appreciate it.

As long it is controlled by the “M”, it will just remain as a fairy tale or as a deception to deter your attention from the obvious vague truth. The biggest culprit is not only smuggling but also direct procurement from government contracts such as “Drumming” which one can easily make tonnes of money by “Supplying” the full given quota and claim in full even though the delivery is not what as it is suppose to be. OPS Titik is a bloody waste of time as these culprits will only detain the small fishes and the big fishes will continue business. After all someone has to take the fall right? Where i have seen, millions of litre with the given “subsidy” are smuggled out under the orders of our G officials such as KPDN and the Ministers who are in charge of the area thru an appointed business proxy to be then sold to a neighboring country such as The Phillipines. The record books are then manipulated to then fill in the empty blanks and then business remains as usual. No matter what mechanism is being implemented later on smuggling and business shall resume as normal for these people whereby it is always a conflict of interest for the Reigning Political Party to Sustain, Feed and create supremacy for themselves. The conclusion : Its all a conspiracy to blur your vision and divert your attention while these people eat a chunk load of the pie and leave you with crumbs hence you paying the bill too!! ….. OPS Titik? morelike OPS Menilik….
