Honda Motor has just announced its new president and CEO, Takahiro Hachigo. Currently the company’s managing officer, Hachigo will take over the role held by Takanobu Ito effective late June 2015.
Hachigo joined Honda in 1982, principally as a chassis engineer. Among the models developed under his charge are the first US-built Odyssey in 1999 and the second-generation CR-V in 2001. He has served as the operating officer of Honda R&D, and more recently as the president and director of Honda R&D Europe.
Current Honda president and CEO, Takanobu Ito, has had the top seat since June 2009. Under his leadership, Honda established new plants in Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, India and China. The six years also included the introduction of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology umbrella, new “fun to drive” models such as the upcoming S660, Civic Type R and NSX, and Honda’s return to Formula 1.
Ito will remain on the board and assume the post of director and advisor to Honda Motor.

I really hope that S660 production model won’t be far off from the concept, just like the CR-Z. It is also interesting to observe the implementation of the convertible roof mechanism on S660 versus the one in Mazda Miata.
I do believe speakers on the headrest is a good idea from Mazda too as it brings cinematic surround sound in a car. An intimate movie run with a girl at the car porch, is good session indeed :P

The new CEO’s credentials (CRV & US Odyssey) doesn’t quite shout “enthusiast”, but I hope he maintains Ito’s fun to drive model, and develops them even further (surely the NSX chasis can be used for other cars).
Ito was one of the engineers who worked on the original NSX, and under his stewardship as CEO, had developed the new/2nd gen NSX (though yet to be launched on the road), and brought back Honda into F1 (again not yet racing – but will be in about 3 weeks time). Under him too, was the major recalls for the Honda Fit (the Honda airbag recalls may have happened under him, but the root cause probably started 2 CEOs before). Anyway, Ito will be in the Board, so he may have still have some say in the strategic direction for Honda. Wishing Hachigo San all the best.

I bought a Honda Civic 2017. My 5° Honda. For the first time, I am really dissatisfied with my decision. The copilot seat is very low, can’t move it up, and the right mirror is fixed and I can’t see the rear car….
I don’t recommend it.
Thanks

Honda Cars India Limited Service Department has a very casual approach in resolving customer issues. They are spoiling brand value of Honda, Honda Delaership Delight Honda in New Delhi damaged my vehicle’s throttlebody while cleaning it and HCIL Service department is taking this issue lightly, I am unable to drive my vehicle since last one weak.
