Now that the Jaguar XE has been unveiled and is making its way into showrooms, the spotlight has now been turned onto its bigger brother, the XF – Coventry’s executive sedan now on its eighth year on sale, so a complete refresh has been long overdue.
We’ve known that Jaguar has been working on a successor for some time now, thanks to recent spyshots of development mules. Now it’s official – the new 2016 Jaguar XF will be unveiled on March 24 ahead of its New York show debut, and the company has released a photo of the interior to go with it.
From the looks of it, the cabin will be heavily inspired by the XE. Gone are the hidden centre air vents (it appears the side vents still rotate out of sight when not in use), replaced by more conventional items on top of a large touchscreen controlling Jaguar’s new InControl infotainment system.
The steering wheel and lower centre console – with the rotary gear selector that debuted on the original XF – also looks to have been lifted wholesale from its smaller sibling, but the instrument cluster is now of the digital variety as on the larger XJ, at least on higher-end variants.
We also get a look at the top view of the new XF, and the XE influences are clear here too – there’s a more protruding snout, sharper detailing and a large panoramic roof. It is expected to grow in size compared to its predecessor, in order to provide some breathing room for the XE as well as to increase passenger and luggage space.
The new XF will be the second car to be built on Jaguar’s new modular iQ[Al] platform, and, thanks to the mostly aluminium construction, is expected to be significantly lighter despite being larger and more technologically advanced than before.
Some of that weight saving can also be attributed to the new Ingenium family of engines that are lighter than the equivalent Ford-sourced mills of yesteryear. Jaguar claims class leading fuel consumption, achieving over 24.7 km per litre.

I love the Dashboard ala the Prestige Corrolla Altis dashboard style.
Why is the main screen below the aircon vents? It should be above it so that it is in your line of sight. This low screen position means you have to look down a bit to look at the navi, or change radio statios, etc.
Overall, its very minimalist. Some might like it, but to my eyes its a bit plain jane. I still prefer the Merc C Class interior, which is a nice luxurious to be in and has more presence. The XF interior is not bad, just that it doesnt quite excite.
Well each to his own. Some fancy having an iPad like screen that sticks out like a sore thumb, and looks like it was put in as an afterthought. Some prefer one that’s actually integrated into the dashboard :)
TOO SIMPLE A DASHBOARD DESIGN? WHAT THE…?
I am very curious to see the exterior. I’m expecting something pretty awesome, just like the current XF. Good to see the interior is finally up to date, unlike the current one.
the new interior looks cheaper than the last
Altis dashboard wannabe? No pls.
