MPSJ discontinues parking coupon pilot project

According to The Sun, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has decided to abandon its parking coupon pilot project after lacklustre response from the public. Its council president, Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, said that during a five-month period from February to June, approximately 1.5 million coupons were printed, but only 100,000 were snapped up.

“Rather than having to walk from one’s car to the nearest ticketing machine, we thought the coupon system would be a convenient option,” he said. He added that contributing factors to the poor response included a lack of agents selling coupons.

Nor Hisham said that MPSJ will not be printing new coupons, as the 1.4 million remaining coupons are still valid till 2017. The report doesn’t mention it, but the assumption must be that the existing coupons will be sold until then.

    GOOD RIDDANCE!

Parking tickets are a nuisance especially when you have all the different MP issuing DIFFERENT coupons. How many coupon stacks do we need to keep?

People will complain less if you have ONE UNIFIED coupon system.

      Agreed, unification is necessary.

Not to mention the difference in pricing. Last time, the machine ticketing allows you to continue parking in another selangor district, provided its still valid.

Sometimes I was told that I can use different district coupon as long as it the same value.

    • Agreed, I don’t mind if each state has its own system but having different sets of coupons for each Majlis is a bit of overkill. I still prefer the old coin operated parking meters for convenience.

Nokharom, back to carrying coins. Stupid payment system, 2015 still cannot use note.

Monthly pass also expensive, no incentive other than to not need collect coins.

they used to implement coupon system more than 15 yrs ago! Why bother to go back to old system? waste of money… might as well set up parking meters by roadside and let drivers tap their TnG cards on the readers?

Good idea, sometimes half the coin operated machines around a few blocks of commercial buildings ‘rosak’ and sometimes the machine swallow the coins but without issuing any parking ticket resulting in motorist giving a kungfu kick at the machine due to frustration.

  • What’s wrong to implement both coupon and machine system? People who always park at Subang/USJ, coupon could be a good option. For those not often to be there can use machine instead of getting a coupon for no reason to keep it.

What a waste of money printing these tickets only to find out that it is not popular.
Guess the crony company already pocketed its commission for 1.5 mil booklets.
    Read this MPSJ ,
People just not bothered to buy them,
even don’t give two hoots about payimg for parking as they prefer to double park, park at handicapped lots amd anywhere to their whim and fancies.
Even clamping failed and towing cars
    failed to rattle them.
just look at Taiapn & SS15 area.
    with poor enforcement this attitude
    will never chamge.
Jusr make your rounds constantly at 30 mins intervals
Slap them with a $100 fine and MPSJ will see results amd have a healthy kitty at the emd of every month.
Hire more amd in a way it also creates employment.

  • Buat macam Sabah je senang. Parking je mane2, janji dalam petak. Atendan letak tiket. Cukup jam atendan Update. Nk bayar kt pondok boleh, kt atendan pn boleh. Kalau parking kt tempat no parking baru kena saman. Peluang kerja ada. Peluang orang xnk bayar saman sebab xmampu pun kurang.
