Formula 4 South East Asia Championship announced

The Asian Autosport Action Group (Triple A) Sdn Bhd, in partnership with the Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM), has announced the introduction of the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship (F4 SEA), certified by FIA.

Triple A is the promoter and AAM will be the lead FIA affiliate representing all participating FIA South East Asia zone affiliates. F4 SEA will be the world’s most cost-effective F4 championship, its promoter claims.

F4 SEA will run as an FIA single organisation championship, similar to AsiaCup’s one-team, one-make, one-data and one-cost concept, ensuring a cost-effective transition to formula racing. Driver budgets will be within the FIA Formula 4 recommended fee of 100,000 euros, or RM466,560 at current rates.

The all-inclusive driver’s fee includes registration, entry fees, race-car, race engineering services, consumables, logistics, race tyres, European engineers and driver coaches. The only extras are testing, wet tyres and any damage incurred.

The 2016 race calendar will consist of up to six events, with 24 to 30 races on the region’s circuits. Planned circuits and countries include Malaysia’s Sepang, Marina Bay Singapore, Buriram in Thailand, Clark Philippines, Penbay Taiwan, Sentul Indonesia and India’s Buddh track. The race machine, chassis and engine will be presented next month at Sepang.

Motorsport is not only to develop drivers, but also mechanics, technicians, engineers and support staffs.

Do include local talents in the team too. You don’t need a mat salleh to change the tyres do you?
