Uber KLCC Xpress – special rates in Golden Triangle

Uber is introducing the KLCC Xpress, which gives Uber riders a flat rate fare of RM5 per ride in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle. The promotion runs from Monday to Thursday, between 4 pm and 8 pm, and ends January 21.

All users have to do is tap the “KLCC Xpress” icon in the Uber app, and select their location. The RM5 fare only applies to fares beginning and ending within the highlighted location.

Should the ride end outside the KLCC Xpress area, regular Uber X rates will apply. Partner drivers may not be requested to wait at any location when using KLCC Xpress.

after calculation, a uber driver will only take home RM4 after minus 20% uber fee.

if stuck in a jam, this is not worth it for drivers. drivers should just reject that pick up request!

It’s not worth it, but if you read carefully the promo is only on weekdays 4pm-8pm, which in this period uber drivers enjoy the hourly guaranteed rate of RM28/RM18 (Tier 1/Tier 2), and it will keep uber drivers within the KLCC vicinity area which is where most requests are

Not worth the pain getting stuck in jam at that peak hour. Tier1/Tier2 requirements are getting harder to achieve these days so you are stuck with whatever ridiculous fare Uber throws at you. And rejecting too many request can end up getting blacklisted.

Uber is a good service for the passengers and was a good plan for drivers but it is a win-lose situation now.

Many uber drivers are already feeling the pain of driving for uber. Uber is raising their service charges and also reducing the income of Uber drivers in many ways especially by reducing fares.

Uber HQ like to send happy happy messages of more rides and more fares but forgetting about petrol and maintenance cost of driving in the city. Also they are adding too many uber drivers on the road who are fighting for the same pool of riders.

If they are not careful, then the biggest rebels of Uber will be uber drivers themselves. It is already happening in the US now.

It’s all about supply and demand, and I’m pretty sure that Uber has priced it such that it is enticing enough that there will be sufficient drivers on the road. If you’re not happy about the uber rates you can simply stop driving for Uber, nobody’s forcing you to go online for them.

I don’t do Uber anymore because looking at the recent rates Uber offer drivers you know straightaway it is a slave driver setup. I know a lot of current Uber drivers and the pain they are facing is real. Uber has become Ubercon for them.

Uber is lucky that its main workers who are drivers and generating the income for the company are not under the Employment Act so they can bully drivers with whatever scheme they have to increase their profits. They can also increase the number of drivers/workers without care of the situation of the local market or the welfare of the drivers as long as the situation benefits them.

Driver/worker bullying have started recently and although Uber rates are lower than budget taxis, Uber is lowering them even more. What type of driver will Uber end up having if this continues?

The tide will change if Uber is not careful and only care about their profits.

As I said the biggest danger to Uber is when the Uberpartners become the rebel.
