It was a smash-up, but not as you’d imagine. According to news reports, 22 cars and two motorcycles were damaged in Nibong Tebal yesterday when a lorry rammed into them. The event was no accident, but rather a deliberate act.
In the morning incident, which took place in the busy market area in Taman Berjaya, the driver of the lorry was said to have lost his temper because his three-tonne tipper truck could not move as cars and motorcycles were parked on both sides of the road and had left it impassable.
The driver then decided to make it passable by ramming his way through, in the process causing all the smaller vehicles to be damaged. Seven cars were wrecked, while the rest were slightly damaged. Plenty of mayhem, as the photos below from Facebook posts show. The lorry driver drove off from the scene.
Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Supt Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the police were investigating the incident and efforts were being done to track down the lorry driver for reckless driving.
The folks involved in the incident may not be too pleased about it, but it seems that many others didn’t view the incident in the same light – based on comments on social media postings, many condoned the case of road rage, and even praised the lorry driver for doing what he did.
What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you think that the action committed by the lorry driver was wrong, or do you think that such consequence as a result of indiscriminate parking is only fair, even justifiable?
